We start with an update on the common themes running through the Northern Australia Defence Summit that was recently held in Darwin then move on to discuss the AUKUS Maritime Innovation Challenge that has good goals but seems to be underfunded with only AU$12.45m across all three countries?

Focusing back on Australia, the ABS has released figures showing that the Australian defence industry grows the economy so why aren't our government and Defence pushing for more sovereign development rather than just local servicing for FMS deals? There seems to be some movement towards more sovereign capability but will it occur soon enough?

We wrap with the news that a UK company has tested a USV with the Australian Maritime College in Launceston which, aside from being local, was also something spotted at the time that left us scratching our heads trying to figure out what USV it was.
