All too often, we equate the word “normal” to mean common, lackadaisical, or what is expected. In God’s economy, “normal” calls us to live a life according to His standards, not ours. Jesus modeled what it looked like to be a servant, and He expects nothing less from us.

A person accepts Jesus as their Savior… then what? If as believers we know that one day we’ll be in Heaven with our God, why don’t we go there right after we get saved? When we ask the question, “why are we still here?”, the answer God shows us in His Word comes down to one word… people.

We’ve seen firsthand… and maybe even experienced ourselves… how easy it is to withdraw, and before we know it, we’re living as though we’re on an island, going through life solo. But God never intended our Christian life to be lived out on our own. So as we move to get back to normal, one thing we don’t want to miss is “Why One-Another” is so important to God in the life of the believer.

Fourteen months… 61 Sunday mornings… have passed since we had our last normal Sunday morning together. And as week after week has gone by, one churning thought has become crystal clear. God isn’t done with His church yet. And we’re ready for it. Whatever He’s got for us, we are all in. It’s time church… “It’s Time to Get Back to Normal”.

We may love to have options for everything from food to housing, but Jesus’ words in John 14 leave no room for that. With one little word, He removes every other option. Three letters… a world of difference… THE. With one word He tells us there is no alternate plan, no room for interpretation, no other way, period. When it comes to eternity, there’s no way around Jesus’ words: “I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Long before the Battle of Jericho, God promised Abraham that His people, the Israelites, would one day experience the promised land. And now, after enduring centuries of slavery in Egypt and then wandering with Moses in the desert for almost 40 years, the Israelites finally stood at the edge of the promised land, Canaan. But before they could enter, there was one more giant roadblock… and God chose to use two very different characters with two very different stories to accomplish His plan.

This week, we’ll look at the second character in the story, Rahab. Although her past would make many write her off as unusable, God chose to use her to help save the entire Israelite nation.
