The Bible is clear that life won’t automatically become perfect for those who follow Jesus. But when the bottom falls out, and there comes a time “When Life Doesn’t Make Sense”, we can rest assured that we have a God we can trust.

The book of 1 Peter was written to Christians who were experiencing trials and hardships. They felt hopeless and helpless, living in a land that wasn’t their own. And as followers of Jesus today, we can empathize. Just as this world wasn’t their home, it’s not ours either.

The Apostle Paul compared the Christian life to a race, and he knew that just as a race has a beginning and an end, so does this life here on earth that we live for Jesus. And every day we wake up puts us one day closer to the finish line. But the thing Paul wanted us to grasp is not when… it’s how we “Finish!”

Nothing… Nothing… “Nothing but the Blood” of Jesus.

There are times when the circumstances of life catch us by surprise, seem overwhelming, and appear endless. God will not only use these difficult seasons, but He will guide us through them. As we close out a year that has felt like a great and terrible wilderness, what does God want us to learn? What does He want us to do as we move into a new year?
