Judsen Cunningham, on trial for causing a boating accident that killed two, is believed to have taken his own life early Thursday, the day his case likely would have gone to a jury.

Timothy Hassenplug was acting as a spotter for Palm Beach Lift Techs, which was installing a new marine travel lift outside the dry dock facility when the accident occurred.

The forklift operator was moving a portion of the lift into place when his load shifted, trapping Hassenplug between a beam and a boat. Hassenplug pushed off the beam to create space and it swung back and hit him in the head, according to the marina owners.

TALLAHASSEE — Triumph Gulf Coast Inc., the nonprofit corporation overseeing expenditures of fiscal damages recovered from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, can direct that funding to Hurricane Michael relief, according to board chairman Don Gaetz.

In an unrelated case, an elementary school guidance counselor has an active OCSO warrant for failing to report child abuse.
