Oregon lawmakers have approved new guardrails for automatic license plate reader technology.

In Washington state, there are millions of Winter Grain Mites turning farmers’ fields brown in Lincoln County. Entomologists [EN-toe-mahl-oh-gists] and experts from Washington State University surmise that this year’s mild winter helped the mites flourish. Originally, some farmers thought it was snow damage.

David James is an associate professor of entomology [EN-toe-mahl-oh-jee] [at the W-S-U Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center] based in Prosser. He’s studied these mites in Australia.
