A mass stabbing in Salem last night ((SUN)) sent 11 people to the hospital and resulted in charges against a 42 year-old suspect.

Salem police have arrested a 42 year-old man from Bend in a mass stabbing at a homeless shelter last night ((Sunday)).

Josephine County could bring back its 4-H and extension service programs in July. During a budget committee meeting Monday morning, county commissioners approved restoring the collection of a tax to support those programs.

Schools in Oregon and across the country are seeing growing numbers of students with disabilities, in many cases, with more significant needs. Serving these children requires a lot of trained adults - and therefore, a lot of money.

Without it, kids don't always get the support they need. But when there is money to support the right staff and programs, it can make a big difference.

[HOST:] The Trump administration claims the state of Washington, almost every one of its counties and a handful of its cities are obstructing immigration enforcement. The Homeland Security Department put out a nationwide list last week [THURS] of what it calls "sanctuary jurisdictions."

The City of Yakima says it's not sure why it ended up on the Homeland Security Department's list of local governments it claims are defying federal immigration enforcement.

Overdose deaths are estimated to have dropped across the United States by approximately 27% in the last year according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That comes out to around 30,000 fewer deaths in 2024 than the year before.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in May that across the United States estimated overdose deaths fell by about 27% last year.

The state of Washington also saw a decline – But … this data may not be as hopeful as it seems.
