Oregon State University celebrated the class of 2026 in Corvallis on Saturday. As KLCC’s Macy Moore reports, the big-name commencement speaker was also a part of the graduating class:

The Springfield School District has announced Shawn Stover, an administrator from North Carolina, as their next superintendent.

The School Board unanimously chose Stover for the interim role earlier this week, but as KLCC’s Rebecca Hansen-White reports, they didn’t announce their pick until today [Friday].

It’s a stereotype that Pacific Northwesterners love the outdoors, but there’s a reason for that. The region has many beautiful places to be outside. And although not everyone feels comfortable outside, there are people who are working to make the outdoors a welcoming space. Lisa Wood recently spent some time with two people who lead unique outdoor adventures.

Several members of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz [sih-LETZ] Indians recently shared their perspective about harvesting a humpback whale last November. As KLCC’s Brian Bull reports, it was to establish the mammal’s cultural and historical importance to coastal Natives.
