Few would argue that Garth Lagerwey's eight-season tenure as Seattle Sounders GM has been anything short of highly successful. The trophies and finals and playoff appearances are all material accomplishments. But with him up for re-election and possibly other suitors lining up, now is as good of a time as any to reflect. He spent nearly an hour talking with us about the past eight years and why he's bullish on the future.

It's probably not healthy, but Jeremiah and Aaron are full back on the Sounders' bandwagon for at least another week. And even if this ends in tears, at least we had a wonderful moment against Houston.

Sure, it was only a half of inspired soccer AND it didn't even get us a win, but it was enough for Aaron and Jeremiah to be bullish on the rest of the regular season.

The Seattle Sounders are stuck in a bit of a rut right now, not necessarily playing badly but definitely not playing well. They're losing a lot of one-goal games these days and that's making it a little harder to have a strong opinion. We talked it through.

Since last we met -- all of two weeks ago -- the Sounders' season has taken a rather frustrating turn. They are now winless and scoreless in three straight and suddenly the playoffs don't seem quite as assured as they once were. We're pretty sure the difference mostly comes down to health but that is not itself a complete answer. We give our thoughts.

In which Jeremiah plays out an analogy that compares the Timbers winning MLS Cup first driving a "For All Mankind"-esque space race for North American soccer dominance. Richard Farley joined us, too.

The start to the MLS portion of the season did not quite go how anyone had really hoped but after winning 4 of 5, it now looks like the Sounders' season is back on track.

Overall, the Sounders had a pretty good week. But they ended it with a loss in a perfectly winnable road game. That's not a disaster but it does continue a trend of not playing well for sustained periods.

We're here to tell you that it's not only good, but right to be insufferable.

It is not hyperbole to observe that Wednesday's game is quite possibly the biggest in Sounders history. In order to mark the occasion, we're joined by longtime friend of the show Richard Farley.
