Helmuth and Hanna, both European immigrants met in 1961 in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario, Canada and shortly after got married. Their marriage quickly went down hill in 1982 when Helmuth suffered a severe stroke. This is said to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. The Shafia Family murders took place on June 30, 2009 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Shafia sisters Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, along with Rona Muhammad Omar, 40 (all of Afghan origin), were found dead inside a car that was discovered underwater in front of the northernmost Kingston Mills lock of the Rideau Canal. Tyler “Sidney” McMichael was last seen at the intersection of Commissioners Road East and Wellington Road in London, Ontario on May 24, 2019. He was 20 years old, and was last seen wearing a red and black plaid shirt, black pants and brown shoes. At the time of his disappearance, he stood at 5’10”, weighed approximately 170 pounds and had a slim build. He has short, light brown hair, which may now be shaved, and blue-green eyes. He has a very light brown birthmark on his cheek, which is usually covered by a goatee, and is said to have a small cross tattoo on his hand, with three lines underneath.

He is known to have connections to the Stratford and Chatham-Kent areas. He may also have connections in Mount Bridges and Strathroy.

On August 26, 1994 - 31 year old Sonya Nadine Mae Cywink was seen at the corner of Lyle Street and Dundas Street, located in the city’s east end, at around 2:00am. This would be the last time Sonya would be seen alive. Her body was located just two days later about 40 mins from where she was last seen. Her friends and family are still searching for answers and justice in Sonya's case.

In April 2006, Eight bodies were found stuffed into vehicles in a farmers field outside of the village of Shedden approx. 30km south of London, Ontario, Canada. This mass killing was a gang-related slaying performed by members of the Banditos Biker Gang.
