In this episode we are joined by the WONDERFUL Sharon Quackenbush, the first guest to appear on the most listened to show in all of human history! Her insight as someone with a background in both faith leadership as well as counseling lead to to engage in some wonderful topics this episode. We hope you enjoy hearing from her as much as we did speaking with her.
Remember: You always have permission to feel as you do, and getting the help we need is a testament to our strength to change, not a weakness.
Our steamy series comes to a close in this climactic flurry of passion, body dysmorphia, and unabashed discomfort. Never forget, you are loved and we are all completely messed up so put on those walking shoes and embrace the discomfort.
This episode is a continuation of the previous episode where we discussed sex and evangelicals... steamy. In this episode we will be diving into topics about sexual repression, queerness, women's issues, and how the church relates to them.
We hope you enjoy today's episode, as always we encourage feedback and conversation so shoot us an email with any questions you have and we will do our best to respond promptly.
ALSO: Happy Birthday Ben, Richard, Bradley! You are both such positive figures in our lives and we love you very much.
Bring a towel and something to cool off with in this steamy episode where the Three Musketeers make great strides towards unveiling many of the mysteries behind the mythical activity that is sex. In this first episode you get a neat little breakdown of "some" of the sex related passages in scripture, as well as some hot and heavy information from us about ~body shame~ (sparkle emoji).
All in all please be safe out there, respect your body and require others to do so, and above all have fun.
Note from the editor: Stay hydrated and get good sleep.
The book that Ben mentioned is titled Good Christian Sex: Why Chastity Isn't The Only Option- And Other Things The Bible Says About Sex by Bromleigh McCleneghan
What a strange day it has been, a strange year even, and even now as the sun goes down we have to acknowledge some ugly realities we live with. Yesterday a group of terrorist, with the intent to terrorize, assaulted the capitol of the US in order to disrupt the processes of democracy that our very institutions rely on. Thankfully, this terrorist attempt was a failure, and it is important to remember that these people, these terrorist, have failed in their attempts to disrupt the due processes of democracy in the United States. That being said, this event brings a new perspective for many people, opening the eyes of millions of Americans to the political environment that has been brewing for decades.
This episode marks a change in direction for the podcast, if political topics annoy you there are some wonderful books on tape to go listen to elsewhere.
-The Fellas-
Merry Christmas to all and to all a hopeful end to a wonderfully eventful year! In this episode the boyos close up their year discussing the history of Christmas and playing some holiday games!
This can be a wonderful season for many, but for some this time of year comes with isolation and stress. Reach out to those you love, call a friend, and give to the community around you as you can. Let's hope for a peaceful transition into 2021 and good luck out there.
-The Barbarians-
In this continuation episode the gang breaks down deeper topics into body autonomy and even make a plea to Christians to pursue healthy mental environments. In the second installment of "Some-environments-are-harmful-and-it-is-ok-to-leave-them-you-deserve-better", a deeply serious discussion with a "non-zero number" of shenanigans.
In a land not as far away as you might think, three heroes raise their swords in the hopes of conquering the topic of Religious Trauma. Deciding instead that they did not want to be heroes they then went to get some mozzarella sticks and talk it out instead. As Jesse takes the reins in a "dashing" display of leadership in this turbulent topic, Ben and Ben nearly succeed in holding the conversation together among the chaos.
What lies ahead for this unlikely band of brigands?
Find out in Part 2, coming soon.
In this episode Ben takes us through a discussion on the disconnect between conservative ideology and Christian teachings. Is there a war on the Christian faith? Yes. Who is waging this battle to dismantle the teachings of Jesus? Well, let's just say the call is coming from inside the house on this one. We discuss super non-controversial topics like immigration, abortion, and how the republican party has tarnished the faith of the Christian community.
This episode should act as a discussion, we want this to be engaging as a tool to challenge our beliefs. Understand that this episode will be more personal than a normal format, but in these times discussions must be had about the future of faith.
