Another special guest appears on this week’s episode of Not for Anything! Juliana Rodrigues sat down with Jess and Ju to discuss the world of comedy. After starting her career as a stand-up when she was 15, Juliana has gone on to tour with Yuk Yuk’s, opened for Gerry Dee at the Sony Centre, appeared on Just For Laughs and Laugh out Loud Radio and is currently hosting her own podcast called All Good. In this episode, the gals discuss what the comedy scene looks like today for a young woman, what it means to be a comic, and the ways in which comedy isn’t respected as its own craft. We hope you enjoy and leave with a little more wisdom on this type of performance art!

This week on Not For Anything, Jess and Ju talk all things Catholic. More specifically they discuss how religion participated in how they were raised, their experiences at catholic school, and how their religious beliefs have changed overtime. If anybody has any clue on how to be a Catholic in 2021 without sacrificing your moral compass, please contact Jess and Ju pronto! And remember through Him, with Him AND in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, we firmly believe that God must be compensating for something…
Enjoy and Bless you!

As we move into our second season of the Not For Anything Podcast, we want to reflect on our place “here”. Not only in this virtual space we occupy, but the place in which we meet, live, and create on. We want to acknowledge that we are living on stolen land; land that has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years.
Toronto/ Tkaronto is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
Indigenous peoples have been the stewards of this place. And as settlers, we are grateful for the opportunity to share life here and thank all the generations of people who have taken care of this land before us.
Welcome back everyone to another season of Not For Anything with your hosts Jess and Ju! Season 2 is here! We are so excited to be premiering our first episode for our second season and felt this special episode called for some special guests. Today we have Zach Colangelo, Jacob Lin, and Gavin McDonald with us to help discuss toxic masculinity in its many forms. Our wonderful guests make some excellent points about how toxic masculinity has manifested in their lives, their relationship to their own masculinity, the codes of male behaviour and how teachings of violence and aggression have affected them.
Not for anything but it was a great conversation. Hope you enjoy!

This week on Not For Anything, your favourite ladies discuss the Body Positivity movement, the idea of radical acceptance, and how the two have shaped our lives both in the past and present. We reflect on our journey and remind ourselves that as humans our bodies, although being the least interesting things about us, are uniquely tailored to each of us. We are like snowflakes. Aw.
We are looking forward to continuing this conversation in future podcast episodes, while considering the non-female perspective. We recognize that this episode, as well as the Body Positivity movement itself, is for any person with a body and conversations should not be limited to an able-bodied, cis-female perspective.

This week your favourite ladies welcome a VERY special guest as they discuss the illusion and disruption of the Home. We touch upon our personal experiences and our troubles with the word and try to define its actual meaning. Is Home family or is Home just a feeling?
This week on Not For Anything, your favourite ladies continue talking about what it means to be a woman in a man’s world. In part two, we touch on catcalling, sexual harassment and sexual assault. We also cry and get angry again because we are allowed to.
We would like to acknowledge once more that we are white, cis women and that comes with privelege that we are still recognizing and checking. This podcast episode is just our side of the story and discusses what challenges we have faced. We hope there is something for everyone to relate to and learn from and we welcome you to share your own stories with us. Keep having the conversation.
ATTENTION:
“If you feel uncomfortable or triggered when it comes to discussions of sexual assault or harassment, feel free to take breaks if needed. This episode was not chosen for the purposes of exposing or threatening others. We are not interested in creating any negativity, instead, we have a specific focus on the aftermath and impact sexual assault can have on victims. These are simply, our stories to tell.
We plan our topics based off of our life experience, things we feel passionate or excited about, and sometimes things that just need to be said. To be clear, our personal encounters with sexual assault occurred two years apart from each other and on separate occasions and though our experiences were physical we want to be clear that we are not victims of rape. It is our hope that anyone who has experienced assault or harassment can relate to our feelings and find this episode contributive to their healing process”
