Not in a Huff with Jackson Huff

This week I hand over a great deal of the talking to podcast host Sherman Tylawsky who teaches us about three people who played an instrumental part of what America is today. These three lived very different lives, but they all did something that lead to where we are today. Things could have looked very different for the USA and for the world without them and I bet most of us have never even heard of a single one of them. This was a great conversation about learning from past mistakes and always striving to be better, as a nation and as people. Whether you are from the US or only want to know a little more about the people who shaped it, this was an insightful conversation!

This week we dive into the world of Hasidic Jews. I speak with Shloime Zionce who is a practicing Jew in the Orthodox Hasidic Jewish faith. A faith that is largely very closed off and guarded, families do not have TV's, very few have internet, women wear wigs, and men grow out curly sideburns (Payos). This was an extremely fascinating conversation with someone living a very different life than most people right in the heart of New York City with 100,000 other members of the faith. The goal of this conversation was to learn about the religion and the things that set it apart from most modern religions. This conversation should not be seen as an endorsement OR knock on Hasidic Judaism, but rather an engaging educational look inside a largely unknown world.

This week I speak with pet psychic and medium, Beth Lee-Crowther about a life speaking with dogs, cats, horses, and general wildlife. We talk about how she discovered her ability and some funny conversations she has had with animals in readings. She also speaks about a book she recently wrote discussing how numbers impact peoples lives. This is simply a conversation with someone in an interesting profession and should not be seen as an endorsement for or against psychics/mediums. Whether you are someone who does not believe in psychics at all, mildly skeptical yet curious, or a firm believer everyone will enjoy the stories in this one.

This is a very different week on the podcast as we dive into true crime. I had the honor of interviewing Dave Reichert who recently retired as a US Congressman, before that serving as the King County Sheriff home to the City of Seattle. We talk about his life and time in public service, but focus mainly on his time as the lead investigator on the Green River Killer Task Force. This case was one that swept the headlines from the early 1980's to 2001 and involved a serial killer who picked up women, murdered them, and the dropped their bodies in the Green River from almost two decades. We talk about finding the first body all the way to capturing Gary Ridgway 19 years later after an estimated 80 plus women's lives had been taken, making him the most prolific serial killer in US history.

This is a powerful conversation, but a very serious and sometimes graphic one so listener discretion is advised.

This week I speak with musical artist Meghan Krauss. We talk about growing up as a classically trained opera singer, to fronting rock cover bands, joining a legendary guitarist on a worldwide tour, and now her current journey as a solo artist.
