Ole Miss baseball next week officially opens practices in advance of the 2025 season.

The Rebels will go for about a month, including an instrasquad scrimmage, before getting things started against Arizona in the Shriners Children’s College Showdown on February 14.

Ole Miss is coming off back-to-back losing seasons following the first national title in program history in 2022. Long-time hitting coach Mike Clement believes these Rebels, though, are deeper, especially on the pitching side.

“I think it’s as much pitching depth as we’ve had in my decade here,” Clement said.

Clement continued, “Knock on wood, we’re healthy. Obviously that’s a huge part of the last two years. (First-year Ole Miss pitching coach) Joel (Mangrum) deserves a lot of credit. The pitching depth is really, really good. We’re going to have 10-15 guys deep.”

Simmons is next up for Ole Miss football as QB1 following the departure of three-year starter Jaxson Dart.
