Finding someone to share your life with has never been easy. Many of us have turned to smartphones and dating apps for help in finding a partner, in the hope that better tech will lead to a better match. But, as this week's story shows, how much help can technology really provide when the underlying expectations that many of us face are still so antiquated?

In this week's episode, Not-So-True Crime presents a story set in the fictional world of literature's most famed detective, Sherlock Holmes.

Picking up in the immediate aftermath of Holmes’ deadly confrontation with Professor James Moriarty at the Reichenbach Falls, “Postscript” follows a weary Watson as he returns home to a grieving London. Hoping for a measure of peace in the aftermath of Holmes’ death, Watson quickly discovers that while most in the city are in mourning for the great detective, there are those who remain suspicious of the circumstances of his demise. Is Holmes really gone, as all the evidence would suggest, or is there another game afoot?

Set in the near future, in a world not too different from our own, today's story centers around a young man named Owen. In this new but familiar world, technological advances have allowed for the creation of lifelike digital simulations, programs whose realistic settings and vivid characters have made them the most popular consumer product on the planet. But while some are eager to embrace this technology, others are wary of these digital play-lands and the ways in which some have chosen to use them.
