The Green Pass (certificato verde) in Italy is something that you will find is necessary for some situations but not others... for the time being... While life in Italy still retains some level of normal, there are simply some new aspects that are quite different than this time two years ago. For those living in Italy without the need to work in Italy, some of the new rules may not be as apparent in day-to-day life. Those who work in Italy in many if not most cases will need to have the green pass, but interestingly enough the Italian Green Pass isn't necessary for as many activities as it is in other parts of Europe, such as France.

Living in Italy has been something that I've seen as a blessing to have been able to do. During my time making my life in Italy, I couldn't help but make some obervations about the differences between living in The USA vs living in Italy. I'm in no way saying one is better than the other, I just simply enjoy seeing what the differences are and to learn from the strengths of both ways of life. While in some cases, you do find many aspects of life to be the same after moving to Italy, you will also notice many differences in your life as an expat in Italy, even as an Italian dual citizen... In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, I'll go over a few differences I've noticed between these two countries as an American Expat in Italy.

Living abroad is an adventure that takes you on twists and turns. Over time it changes you, who you are and maybe even your daily routines may change too. There have been a number of American habits I've lost along the way. There have been other changes to my daily life I've picked up that have been influenced by my life abroad and especially living in Italy. I noticed many of my habits shifting away from what was once part of my lifestyle. Although I must say the even after moving abroad more than a decade ago, there are a number of pieces of my American lifestyle I haven't been able to let go of while living a life abroad.

Living in Italy can present many challenges... but none of the topics in this video could even remotely be considered among them. Yesterday I was quite surprised to find that one of my videos had received a video response, from someone who I'd never had any contact with before. It just so happens the episode in question has been one of the most misunderstood episodes I've ever made "What I Hate About Italy... well... sort of" . But I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Sonia Candy (@SoniaCandyInsta on Instagram) actually was there to join in on the conversation and have some fun. I truly find it shocking how many people have misunderstood that video and think that these are major issues even after I said I laugh about these things and really almost never think twice about them.... I feel truly blessed to be able to live in Italy and make it my home and glad that Sonia was able to laugh along with me at some of these things. Covering everything from Italian food to living in Italy / expat life in Italy to Italian-American vs Italian culture and more, I can say this for me was definitely a fun episode to put together.

Yes, I've said it, living abroad is completely overrated! I will never understand the glamorization of living life abroad and expat life as well as the digital nomad lifestyle. Yes, the individuals may be embracing new places and cultures, but how it's seen as glamorous is baffling to me. I realize it may not be an easy decision to make, and for many moving abroad can seem difficult to make happen. But many people would be surprised at the realities of what it really is to live abroad and work abroad. For some people, it's a great temporary experience for a few months, but how much can you truly embrace in a short period of time. Living in Italy and remaining in Italy can offer many wonderful possibilities in a person's life. But just like every other country, Italy isn't perfect either with a large number of people considering or wanting to leave. But for someone who has both the possibility of living in Europe or living in England, what are the reasons why a person might stay in Italy? In this expat podcast episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter, we'll meet Italian podcaster and host of A History of Italy, Mike Corradi who is also an Italian dual citizen who also has Britsh citizenship and is an English teacher living in Reggio Emilia. We talked about his life as a third culture kid now raising kids in Italy and discuss his cross-cultural experience with an English mother and Italian father having lived in Italy, The US and UK.

Expat VS Digital Nomad; a discussion I often find myself a part of with other expats as well as future expats wanting to move abroad or even specifically to move to Italy, move to Portugal, move to Japan or wherever their hearts are called to. When researching information online, unfortunately, a lot of the information and terminology for expats living abroad and digital nomads seem to get confused and misused. I would argue that the digital nomad life is not the same as expat life and that the two are not the same, and there's no problem with that. I just personally think it's important to simply recognize it for the sake of clarity in these conversations about these lifestyles... especially for the benefit of people who are just looking into these subjects for the first time and learning about what it is to live abroad and enjoy a life abroad. Expat life and the Digital Nomad life both come with their challenges and benefits, but which one is right for you will of course depend on a number of factors. I can say that I've enjoyed my dual-citizen expat life in Italy and the other countries I've lived in, even with all of the challenges I've faced along the way living abroad as an American.

Life as a Digital Nomad In Italy is something that so many people dream about. It can come with challenges but in spite of that, it's not impossible and many people are very happy and successful with the countless ways of achieving this goal. Nick, from the Bold Perceptions Podcast, has figured out a way that that works for him where he can live abroad in Italy for the majority of the year and have the ability to live the digital nomad life. I often hear of different ways to move abroad and make that dream a reality, and in this episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter Nick and I also had the chance to not only discuss his digital nomad lifestyle but also discuss how he was able to move to Italy to play football abroad. Living in Italy as an expat can be accomplished in many ways, and in this episode, you'll get to hear how Nick has made it work for him.

In a followup to the last episode of Not Your Average Globetrotter (EP 203) I wanted to briefly speak a little bit more about what things are looking like in Italy. Instead of this update existing as just an regular audio only podcast exclusive... I wanted to try out adding in the video element but on instagram. As I've said so many times, even though many things move so slowly here in Italy, what's going on regarding covid, the laws, updates and so on are always moving at a million miles an hour.

Since uploading my last episode on the Italian Green Pass (certificato verde), I've continued to receive questions such as "What is the Green Pass in Italy?" "How do I get the Green Pass in Italy?" and about the details regarding where and when it is necessary. Today the green pass has come into effect and in this episode, I would like to continue with the discussion I had on the previous Green Pass episode and what some of the newest updates are as well as talk about how to get the Italian green pass and to whom it is available. Even though I may be burnt out on this subject, I'm grateful that it does in fact make life easier for some of you who are looking for this information.
