One of my favorite PNW artists, Todd Snider, passed away a year ago this month at the age of 59. I was proud to feaure one of his songs on tonight's show.
Listen to a poem written and produced by one of the volunteer hosts on KPTZ for the KPTZ is Your Oyster fund drive.
My interview with the founder of Tarboo Tapes, a new Olympic Peninsula record label from the folks who brought you The Quilcene Lantern music and event venue, along with songs about the sea in celebration of the KPTZ fund drive, KPTZ is your Oyster. Enjoy!
This is not meant to be morbid...its just the playlist I'd like to be featured at my memorial service...in 25 or more years from now. Here's the lineup and the reasons why:
Rolling Stones-You can't always get what you want-Rolling Stones. I love the sentiment of the song, and envision it being played at the end of the ceremony with a real choir coming out at the end and singing live.
George Harrison- All Things Must Pass--one of my favorite songs from my favorite Beatle, it serves to remind us of the temporal nature of our existance.
Neil Young - Nothing Is Perfect (In God's Plan) --I epecially like the line about having a good woman, which has been a blessing in my life.
ZZ Top La Grange- yes, there was a famous brothel in La Grange, Texas (Best Little Whorehouse in Texas). But La Grange is also the song played at the beginning of the MS 150 bike ride from Houston to Austin that I did 12 times. Its also from the best ZZ Top album, Tres Hombres.
willie and lukas nelson - just breathe--this is their cover of the Eddie Veddar song. Great lyrics.
The Beatles - Across the Universe - one of the best sets of Beatles lyrics from their entire catalog, a very underrated song.
