What the River Keeps by Cheryl Grey Bostrom is a 2025 Christian fiction novel about Hildy Nybo, a biologist who returns to her childhood home on Washington's Elwha River to help with its restoration, forcing her to confront a past filled with family secrets, trauma, and memory loss. The story follows her journey of healing, forgiveness, and self-discovery as she navigates her reclusive life, her mother's dementia, and a budding romance with a local carpenter, Luke. The novel blends themes of nature, science, faith, and redemption, set against the backdrop of the Pacific Northwest.
Tonight was the debut of Radio Cascadia, featuring alt, singer songwriter, and some folk artists from 2000-now (not right now, but close enough) with a primary focus on the myriad of artists from the North Olympic Peninsula. We'll also feature artists in the same genre from the land we romantically call Cascadia--Washington, Oregon, and the not 51st state, British Columbia. Each show ends with a poem about the PNW, including this one. Its different from Notes by Northwest because of the local focus.
In a feat that said could not be done, the premiere show featured all artists from the amazing little town of Port Townsend, or songs about the city that at one point was bigger than Seattle. In many ways, we still are.
