In part 2 of our series, Tiziana jumps right in with the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. We begin by diving into etymology, history, and the creation of the word "homosexual".
In this episode, Tiziana Rick and Andy sit down with some of the Burros crew to lay the groundwork for the upcoming study. This conversation, homosexuality and the bible, is extremely triggering for a LOT of people (on both sides of the argument) so Tizana felt it was prudent to set the stage for a safe and respectful discussion.
This episode is *mostly* for people who are having a knee jerk reaction to this conversation based on their religious programing and would like to hear Tiziana talk a bit about how she came to the conclusions she did and WHY before she actually jumps into the study. For those of you who don't' need that primer, you may want to skip to episode 2.
Andy, Rick, Tiziana and Sarita bring it home in this final episode of our series on Ruth.
Rick, Andy and Tiziana are joined in this episode by Sarita Edgerton to discuss one of the spicer stories in the Hebrew bible - the threshing floor! Rather than a cut and dry explanation, the team uses cultural and historical context to try and reimagine the circumstances surrounding that night. This episode gets a little blue so, consider yourself warned.
In Ruth 1, the Notes crew sets the stage for the entire book, but in this second episode they get into the text itself.
Welcome to the kickoff episode of Notes From the Underground's 2023 season, the first in a series on the book of Ruth. The Notes crew is joined in this episode by Pastor Michael Miano of Blue Point Baptist Church in New York, as well as regular Burros of Berea contributor Sarita Edgerton.
In this episode we sit down to lay the foundation for the book of Ruth by looking at the context of the book as well as postulating on potential authors.
In part two of our series on Mary Magdalene, we take a good hard look at the truth regarding the role of women in the Jesus movement, as well as explore theories about why those truths have been suppressed (spoiler alert, it's misogyny).
Tiziana takes the lead for the first time as both host and content curator of Notes From the Other Side, a title she still holds today. This episode tackles the misconceptions around the identity of Mary Magdalene and sets her story in it's correct sociohistorical context.
Welcome to the first episode in our 4 part series on the life and times of Samson - Tiziana also agrees to be on the Notes crew full time! Very exciting stuff.
Rick, Tiziana and Andy are back for part 2 of this 4 part series. Here we take a good hard look at what Samson's anointing meant and how he was culpable in his own destruction despite that anointing.
