Rick and Tiziana share between them a love of many things - film, Jesus, music, theology and eschatology, and (of course) Andy. But there is one thing in particular that post production reels and side conversations revealed that we thought was worth an episode; a deep love of late 70's Christian music star Keith Green. But what started out as a light hearted episode quickly took a dark turn as Rick and Tiziana began to dig into the ministry that Keith pioneered then left behind after his tragic death in 1982.
Rick and Tiziana sit down for part two of this study on the material realities of heaven and hell.
*Bonus Episode*
Join the Burros of Berea cast as they sit down to interview Dr. John Walton on his book The Lost World Of Genesis One.
With this episode, we take a break from our regular study on Heaven and Hell to begin a new segment called "Taking The Political Pulse".
In general, we do our best on Notes to keep our politics to ourselves, but as Carol Hanisch reminds us, "The Personal is Political" (Tiziana said Audre Lorde in the episode, she misspoke). In that vein, in this episode we take a look at a special program through the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (https://asapconnections.org/) that has lost its funding. Now, this was a program whose grant cycle ran out at the very end of last year but given the current political climate around Federal funding, this episode is designed to shed light on the types of programs that families like mine (and many of my friends) receive. Our hope is that moving forward we may all have a little more awareness around what the current administration's cuts regarding Federal funding actually look like in practice.
What is "hell", exactly? Is it a physical reality or a metaphorical one, and does God actually send people there to burn forever in conscious eternal torment? In this episode Tiziana and Rick lay out the groundwork for this study, the FIRST thorny topic of 2025.
In this episode Tiziana sits down for a zoom session with Dr. Adam English, who is both the chair of the Christian Studies department and a professor of Christian Philosophy and Theology at Campbell University in North Carolina. He is also the author of The Saint Who Would be Santa Claus: The True Life and Trials of St. Nicholas of Myra, which was the topic of our interview. If you have ever wondered how a series of global B&E's because a part of our Christian Christmas heritage, than this is the episode for you!

In this very special Christmas themed episode, Rick Andy and Tiziana discuss claims that some of our Christmas traditions have pagan origins. The team takes a deep dive into why we celebrate Christmas on the 25th and the history of the Christmas tree.
If you've followed this show for any length of time, you have heard the team talk about this episodes very special guest whom we are low-key obsessed with. Now you get to listen in real time as Andy and Tiziana do their level best to play it cool in front of their favorite social media superstar and co-host of the Data Over Dogma podcast, bible scholar Dr. Dan McClellan. We talk with Dan about all kinds of issues, ranging from Dan's special area of study (the cognitive science of religion) to pop culture references (the wolfman has nards).

Hey folks - this episode originally aired on the Burros of Berea Podcast in May of 2023. It is not the episode I had intended to share, but Rick, Andy, and myself have all suffered damages due to Hurricane Helene and are not able to record fresh material at this time. I hope you enjoy this throwback, and we hope to get a new episode out to you all very soon. Thanks guys, and enjoy.
