Tara Roma Gill is a mixed media artist who celebrates the exploration of whimsy and playfulness in her paintings, collages, textiles, wallpaper, and tabletop products. Nan and Tara discuss how Tara started her art career later in life, after raising six children in Texas. Today, Tara splits her time between Texas and New York, all the while creating colorful and happy artwork like her original floral collages and playful patterns for her textiles and wallpaper line – even collaborating with brands like Crown Affair and Pink Chicken. 

In this episode, Nan and Tara discuss Tara’s career, how she got started with painting, and how Instagram has helped grow her career and customer base. They also dive into the non-creative elements of work and the operations that are needed behind the scenes to support a product business. Tara describes how she structures her day and her desire to protect her creativity and follow the fun. Adair walks Nan through the evolution of Tenoverten, from the New York nail salons the brand opened in 2010 to the clean ingredient-based product line it is today.
