Welcome to 100 years of Gunnersbury Women’s Cricket Club – an audio documentary. We are Richard & Polly Starkie, cricket journalists and co-hosts of the Noughtie Child Podcast.
We are here to celebrate the centenary of Gunnersbury Cricket Club with the help of players, committee members and historians. In 1925, Gunnersbury Cricket Club was founded and has since been home to world class cricketers such as Sarah Taylor, Sophia Dunkley and Charlotte Edwards.
In this audio documentary, we find out what makes Gunnersbury so unique and how it has survived, and thrived, over the past century.
With thanks to Emma & Charlotte Bernstein, Cat Dalton, Naomi Dattani and Molly Barbour-Smith for speaking to us. To Dr Raf Nicholson for sharing historical insight. To Fiona Barbour-Smith for commissioning this centenary documentary. And to Peter Starkie for producing the music.
If you enjoyed this and want to hear more from Richard & Polly, weekly podcasts are published on here speaking about professional women’s cricket in depth, often with the players themselves.
