  • Tafseer Of Surah At Tahreem
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan goes into an in-depth analysis and Tafseer of Ayats 1 to 3 makeup section 1 of Surah At Tahreem.
“O Prophet, why do you prohibit [yourself from] what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. Allah has already ordained for you [Muslims] the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your protector, and He is the Knowing, the Wise. And [remember] when the Prophet confided to one of his wives a statement; and when she informed [another] of it and Allah showed it to him, he made known part of it and ignored apart. And when he informed her about it, she said, "Who told you this?" He said, "I was informed by the Knowing, the Acquainted."
There is a sensitivity and respect in the Qur'an when the Noble Prophet ﷺ is addressed and this shows his nobility and honour granted and afforded to him. Hence, when Prophet ﷺ is talked about, it is said - Ya Ayyuhannabiyyu and similar connotations.
The love and zeal of obeying the Prophet ﷺ based on Hadith without listening to the backstory behind the Hadith can tend to very wrong ramifications. Hence, words of the Prophet ﷺ should not be spread carelessly without going in-depth into it.

  • Amazed By The Quran - The Hoopoe And The Sun-Worshippers
With great eloquence, the hoopoe in Surat An-Naml reports back to Prophet Suleiman about what he saw in Sheba and how the queen and her people were prostrating to the sun. This amazing bird gives a profound analysis of how the shaytan has beautified their rituals and prevented them from the correct path to the point where they will accept no guidance. We learn from this story that each of Allah’s creatures has its own language and that they record what human beings do. They are all witnesses to our actions, and just because they don't speak comprehensibly to us now, doesn't mean that they won’t do so on judgment day.

  • Amazed By The Quran - Repent Allah Loves You
In an incredible recurring phrase in the Quran, Allah says that He loves those who repent over and over again, those he calls “attawwabeen”. Massive in his love, and incredibly infinite in his mercy Allah doesn’t simply say that he accepts the repentance of those who continue sinning and disobeying, He says that He love them because they also continue repenting. No human being is even remotely capable of such sentiments.

  • Amazed By The Quran - Dont Let Sadness Overwhelm You
After the defeat of the Muslims in the Battle of Uhud, Allah revealed aya 139 of Surat Aali Imran, giving believers timeless lessons in dealing with dejection. Allah advises us against allowing failure and disappointment to wear us down, describing with great precision the state of grief people will enter after a serious blow. He tells us not to let this sadness overwhelm us and not to beat ourselves up because our faith in Allah has placed us in a supreme position. While situations change, Allah is a constant source of empowerment.

  • Islam Scholars And Politics
This Khutbah was recorded on November 4th, 2016 in Malaysia.
The most talked-about nation in the Quran, says Nouman Ali Khan, is Beni Israel. But this is no coincidence. Allah uses the trials and tribulations of the Israelites as a point of reference for Muslims to prepare us mentally for what we will go through and to learn from their mistakes. In Surah Al-Baqarah, through the story of the 12 tribal leaders, Prophet Samuel and Taloot, Allah evokes a peculiar chapter in that history to draw the line between religion and politics. As an Ummah we learn that there will be politicians who will try to manipulate religious scholars, seeking their endorsement to legitimize their undeserved authority. This is why scholars must be politically savvy and are commanded to give trust and responsibility only to those who deserve them, otherwise they will create chaos.

  • Amazed By The Quran - Allahs Boundless Generosity
In aya 12 of Surat Yunus, Allah describes those who turn to Him only when they are facing troubles but refuse to acknowledge his generosity after He alleviates them of their burdens. From this we learn that Allah removes difficulty from people who don't thank him and even when He knows that their calls to Him are not genuine. Just try to imagine what He will do for those who are grateful to him?

  • Amazed By The Quran - Nothing Short of Excellence
In Surat Al-Ana’am right after prohibiting shirk (the association of anyone or anything with God) Allah says "and when it comes to both parents: excellence”. Allah gives a directive denoting that the standard with which we must deal with parents is excellence. This is the minimum requirement and anything short of the very best is prohibited. We must beware of trivializing what upsets our parents and show goodness to them in both their presence and absence. This, however, does not mean that Allah has commanded perfection. He asks us to do our best within our unique situation. Some parents are abusive so this aya should not be interpreted as a blanket instruction that is obligatory under any circumstances. Each relationship is different and Allah is only asking us to do our best within our specific limits.

  • Practical Advice After The Election
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan's thoughts, reminders, and reflections on the effect of the election polls.
We need to remind ourselves that we have been such hostile situations before and hence, we should be ably prepared for the same.
The Ustadh now gives an example of the Battle of Uhud. Surah Ale Imran demonstrates the happenings of the Battle of Uhud. the main point of interest is centered around the neglect made by the Sahabas in the Battle of Uhud which caused an injury and wounding of the Prophet ﷺ.
Even the Muslims found themselves in the doldrums were they not for once reprimanded by the Prophet SAW. instead, the Prophet ﷺ brought his epitome of mercy and kindness forth to calm down the Sahabas who were mortified with guilt.
A lesson to imbibe and inculcate from these happenings is that we too need to keep a brave front in the face of trials and adversities and not be overwhelmed by them. Everything good or bad is from Allah and He alone is the All-Knowing. We should take comfort in the fact that Allah will never abandon us and will never burden us with trials more than what we can bear. We should take solace in the fact that Allah is always watching us and His Rahmah will always encompass us if we stay steadfast on the path of Islam.

  • Facing Calamity With Iman
As believers, how do we respond to calamity? Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into the meaning of the word "Musiba" in Arabic, which is used strategically in the Quran to denote that whatever it is that has struck you, could never have happened to anyone else at any other time. It is your own, personal test.
The Quran also distinguishes between two types of unfortunate situations, those over which we have no control and others which we brought upon ourselves. But where do we draw the line between what is in Allah's hands and what is our fault?
Allah is whatever you assume Him to be. If you genuinely believe that He is the All-Merciful, then at times of difficulty you must be unwavering in our faith that if Allah plans something for you, even if it's painful, you must know that He is doing it out of love. When you trust and maintain your trust in Him, Allah will give you the greatest gift of all: He will guide your heart to the right path and give you peace of mind.
