  • Tafseer of Surah At-Takathur
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan permeates through one of the glorious Surahs in the Qur'an - Surah At-Takathur which was revealed in Makkah. The main themes of this Surah are:
Man’s strong desire for worldly wealth.
Consequences of running after worldly wealth.
The origin of the word Lahw used in the Surah is discussed at great length. Lahw essentially means entertainment of any form and it is this Lahw that keeps us busy and deviated from things that actually need our attention and interest. Our wealth and children should make us remember Allah and not be a source of distraction which distances us from Him.
Allah is telling us that we should go to the graves and remember where we are headed. This implies that the graves remind us of death. It will surely distance ourselves from the distractions of the world and make us turn to Allah with sincerity and humility.
When we wake up on the Day of Resurrection, we will be remorseful and regretful for what we had done in our worldly life without remembering about death for once. Allah says in this Surah that these people will soon come to know after they have been buried. Death is something both the believer and disbeliever have Yaqeen or certainty in. we will witness the hellfire staring at us as if it is going to pounce at us and then we will regain our senses on the harsh and tomentous reality waiting for us which Allah has warned us about time and time again in the Qur'an.
We have a lot more blessings or Na'eem than the companions of Allah's Messenger ﷺ. We will be held accountable for all this on the Judgment Day and need to face the plethora of questions that will be put forth our way. And yet the sad relity of today is that we as Muslims have started to compete with each other for blessings (Na'eem). We should fear that we will be asked about the more we have too.

  • Amazed By The Quran - Leadership 101
After the terrible defeat of the Muslims in the Battle of Uhud, when 70 companions were killed because some of the companions failed to follow the Prophet’s command in battle, Allah revealed ayat in Surat Aali Imran asking the Prophet to ask for forgiveness on their behalf and consult them in decision-making.

  • Beware Of The Panting Dog
This Khutbah was recorded at the Islamic Center of Irving on June 22nd, 2016
A chilling reminder for Muslims to hold on tight to the revelation of Allah occurs in this unparalleled analogy in Surat Al-A’raf. As Nouman Ali Khan explains, Allah warns believers against being only artificially committed to their faith, those who seem to comply on the outside but their soul is completely detached, just like a snake that sheds its skin.

  • Amazed By The Quran - Trust Your Gut Feeling
When his brothers suggested taking Prophet Yusuf out into the woods to play, their father Jacob’s reaction was one of deep insight. He said that it saddens him that they will “remove” Yusuf from him, signifying a gut feeling that something bad will happen to his son which he has no power to prevent. Believers must never underestimate or dismiss such feelings because sometimes these precautionary, protective thoughts are a form of divine inspiration to warn us against or prepare us for pending harm.

  • The Right Intentions
Revisiting the context in which Surat Al-Munafiqun was revealed, Nouman Ali Khan sheds light on the multiple lessons to be deduced from that series of events. This Madani surah was revealed after the morale-boosting pre-emptive attack and victory of the Muslims over Bani Mustalaq, a tribe that had planned to storm Madina following the Muslims’ defeat in Uhud.
This Khutbah was recorded on August 5th, 2016 at the Bayyinah Mussallah in Euless, TX.

  • The Power Of Bismillah
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan explicitly elaborates on the power of Bismillah.
When we say, “Bismillaahir-rahmaanir-rahiim”, we are acknowledging about Allah and His qualities, everything that He does is something that’s unique to Him. It cannot be confused with anyone else. The way Allah shows Mercy, guides, and the way Allah provides, the way Allah plans, the way Allah does anything that He does is unique to Him. It cannot be compared to anything and it is His unique mark. Everything Allah does -whether we understand it or not- has beauty in it. When we say “In the name of Allah”, instead of just mentioning Allah, just calling on Allah but actually invoking the name of Allah and actually by invoking the name, the uniqueness of Allah and the beauty of all of the qualities of Allah.
When we say “Bismillaahir-rahmaanir-rahiim”, we are actually asking Allah’s help. The Ustadh elaborates further on the details behind this statement.
A brief analysis is also done on the two most beloved Names of Allah - Ar Rahman and Ar Raheem.
