We also discuss the exciting start to the Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand, and Tony laments Manchester United’s derby defeat to local rivals City. Our guest this week is Phil Kite. He tells us about taking up rowing later in life and progressing from rowing along the River Tyne to setting a world record in crossing the Atlantic, and the planning of his latest adventure as part of the team attempting to be the first to row the 3,700km North West Passage from Canada to Alaska through the Arctic Ocean.

We celebrate Team GB’s two late medals in the Winter Olympic Curling, whilst Andy recounts the effects of Storm Eunice on his latest training walk. Our guest this week is NBA fan Connor Wakefield, who shares his love of the sport as well as giving us a better understanding of this game of giants! And we have a new inductee into our “Local Heroes”, recognising the great work Tony’s friend Harry Robinson has done for Ice Hockey club Basingstoke Bisons.

This week’s episode is slightly different as it’s spread over two days. We are able to see if Andy’s prediction for the Superbowl was right, as well as reviewing the weekend’s Premier League football and 6 Nations rugby. We discuss the Winter Olympics with guest Konrad Bartelski and he explains that he remains confident Team GB can pick up medals in the final week. We then shift seasons as Ben Crabb gives us an update on how preparations are going for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, describing how the excitement is building up as the clock counts down!

Paul Garner is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching, but also has a background in teaching skiing. He shares his story from how he first took up skiing as a schoolboy to now running his own ski development centre and also developing coaches in his University work.

This week we talk about the magic of the FA Cup 3rd round and some of the giantkillings that took place, and ahead of the Australian Tennis Open we look at the controversy surrounding Novak Djokovic’s visa. Adventurer Jason McKinlay joins us to share some of his amazing feats, including rowing across the Atlantic and ultramarathons in the jungle and desert. Regular guest Barry Wood also joins us to talk about the possible takeover at Derby County that could save them from their financial plight.
