The Muslims of the early period built a strong community based upon the Divine teachings revealed in the Qur'an and manifested or practiced by the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and his Sahaabah (Companions). Their communal implementation of this Divine Code revolutionized and forever changed the entire world! At the foundation of this blessed community are many stable and interconnected families! Yes, the family is the foundation of the commmunity!

 

Once we are clear that the family is the core of the community, its value must also be appreciated. When you value something, you take steps to protect and secure it. Also, when outsiders or enemies see that you are in possession of something of value they begin to make moves to manipulate you into freely giving away your precious commodity, or they just out right take it from you by force.

 

The institution of family is under attack - especially the Muslim family! An enemy doesn't attack something which has no strategic value. Our protection against the onslaught of our families lies in our clear and sincere intentions before and while building our families, adhering to Divine Law (the Qur'an and the Sunnah) in structuring our families, and sincerely wanting the best for all Muslims - especially our families!

 

One aspect of family life which is being ignored or even fought against by a large portion of Muslims in the West are Islam's child custody laws. We intend to bring some clarity to this subject during this episode of the Tareeq ul-Jannah Show - with Allah's permission.

Our teacher is Shaykh Muhammad Drammeh, born in the West African country of Gambia. He is highly educated in both the traditional methods as well as the modern ones. He has acquired numerous Ijazaat (licenses to teach) in the areas of fiqh (jurisprudence), Hadith, Qur’an, and Tasawwuf.
