  • 16. Job Searching - How Long is Too Long to Look?

Serious question: how long is too long to look for a new job?

This is a question I’ve struggled to answer in the past while navigating my own job searches, and it’s one I’ve heard many times from clients, colleagues, and friends in the same boat.

When you’re sending dozens of emails, resumes, and applications out every week and still not getting any interviews or moving beyond that initial meeting, something is clearly amiss.

  • 15. Nursing From Home: The Future of Remote Nursing with The Remote Nurse

Do you have cabin fever yet?

I think it’s safe to say that it was impossible to anticipate in March that 6 months later, we would still be sheltering at home, avoiding social gatherings, and becoming entirely too reliant on grocery pick-up and Zoom.

But for some of us, working from home hasn’t yet lost its allure. In fact, now more than ever, professionals across all industries are becoming acquainted with the advantages of remote work.

In today’s episode, I’m joined by Sadie of The Remote Nurse, and we talk about the nitty-gritty of how she started working remotely, why the work is becoming increasingly popular, and what working remotely as a nurse can look like.

  • 12. Are We Letting Down New APRNs? With Ann Konkoly

This week we are continuing our discussion about mentorship and what it looks like to transition from student to provider. Last week I talked with Liz Rohr from Real World NP, and this week I’m excited to chat with Ann Konkoly, CNM.

In this week’s episode, Ann and I had a very candid conversation about the topic of APRN mentorship and burnout. As a life coach and APRN mentor, Ann focuses on helping individuals who are feeling stuck, uncertain, or overwhelmed about what’s next.

  • BONUS! Case Study - New NP Meriah Ward

Bonus episode! Today’s episode is going to be a bit different. Over the last few years working with clients, I’ve gotten to meet some amazing people, and, with their permission, I want to share a bit of their stories with you.

This week, I’d like to introduce you to Meriah Ward. Meriah grew up in the rural south and became the first person in their family to graduate from college.

Meriah now works as a family nurse practitioner and is pursuing their doctorate. They have some wisdom to share on finding leadership opportunities, connecting with mentors and trusting that your work is valuable.

  • 11. What Does New NP Mentorship Look Like? With Liz Rohr from Real World NP

Last week was a doozy. We talked about imposter syndrome and feeling like a fraud at work. Unfortunately, there’s no quick fix, but I did share some strategies on how to combat that “not good enough” feeling.

In this week’s episode, I’m joined by Liz Rohr, a family nurse practitioner and the woman behind Real World NP, a site and online community aimed at guiding new NPs through the early years of questioning their skills and doubting themselves. Liz talks about what she struggled with as a new NP, and we talk about the importance of having someone to lean on. After all, that’s what “big sisters” are for, right? :)

  • 10. New Grad Mindset and How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome

Being new at something is hard. It's vulnerable and uncomfortable and can make you feel really inadequate. Especially when it seems like there is always someone else who could do “it” better.

That said, I am a firm believer in doing hard things. In fact, I usually see feelings of vulnerability and discomfort as signs that I’m on the right track. If what I was doing was unimportant, I wouldn’t feel so much pressure to do it well!

In this episode, we talk about imposter syndrome, what it feels like to be new, and how to craft a mindset that pushes through the discomfort. Read the full show notes at https://www.theresumerx.com/010.

  • 9. Think Oversaturation is Keeping You from Getting a Job? Think Again.

For new and soon-to-be graduate nurse practitioners and experienced providers alike, the odds of finding the perfect position in such a saturated market can seem against you.

But guess what? I’ve got good news. As many men and women as there are willing to dedicate their professional lives to caring for others, there is still a definite and growing need for more providers. And one of those needed providers is you!

  • 8. Can I be a Travel NP? Let's Talk Locum Tenens

    Let’s talk locum tenens.

The Latin is kind of intimidating, but I promise, it’s pretty simple.

In this episode, I’m talking about Locum Tenens, which is basically travel nursing but for advanced practice providers/nurse practitioners. It’s a lucrative option for those who are mostly looking for short term assignments in rural, underserved communities.
