Madinah's nursing career began in labor & delivery and ambulatory care, where her energy and passion quickly caught the attention of her colleagues and superiors.

  • Empowering Women Through Infertility: Monica Moore's Fertile Health Journey
In this episode, we’re joined by Monica Moore, the founder of Fertile Health, a business dedicated to empowering women facing infertility.
Monica’s journey into nursing began like many others, in the ICU, but her path took a turn when she developed a passion for women’s health.
This led her to go back to school to become a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. After graduating, Monica set her sights on New York, but soon discovered that finding a job in women’s health was more challenging than she anticipated.
Eventually, Monica landed a position at an infertility clinic in the city, where she discovered her true calling as an infertility coach.
Over time, she realized that her real passion lay in helping women who were struggling with infertility—both through patient care and education for other healthcare professionals.
Through Fertile Health, Monica offers a variety of services, including direct patient care, health coaching, and nurse education.
Her mission is clear: to improve the lives of women who are trying to conceive or considering pregnancy, particularly those struggling with infertility.
By offering support, education, and practical tools, she helps her clients achieve their optimal level of health.
As a nurse entrepreneur, Monica has spent a significant amount of time cultivating her business through self-marketing, especially using social media.
After building a solid foundation, word-of-mouth referrals have become an essential part of her client growth.
A little over two years ago, Monica shifted her focus to more personalized patient care and health coaching, enabling her to reach clients nationwide.
She now meets with patients both in-person and virtually, using her skills in health coaching and life coaching to guide them toward better wellness.

With years of experience working as a nurse in various roles, Janine always felt that something was missing.
What she yearned for was the freedom and flexibility to better balance her career with her role as a mother.
After the birth of her second child, Janine decided to take control of her schedule and embark on a new path that would allow her to work on her own terms.
Janine’s journey took an unexpected turn when she was offered a home care position, but she quickly realized that she thrived in a more independent setting. However, this position took a frightening turn, prompting Janine to resign and look for new opportunities.

  • Holistic Healing in Mental Health: Tangee Mascoso's Journey to Wellness
This week, we are joined by Tangee Mascoso, NP and founder of Holistic Mental Health Wellness Inc., a practice dedicated to helping mental health patients find balance and wellness through holistic practices.
Tangee’s journey into nursing was always clear—she knew she wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner (NP).
However, her early nursing roles didn’t bring her the satisfaction she was searching for, until one pivotal rotation in psychiatry ignited her passion for mental health.
This experience led her to go back to school to obtain her Nurse Practitioner license and, ultimately, to start her own practice in 2015.
With experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, Tangee witnessed firsthand the challenges and limitations of traditional mental health treatments.
This inspired her to create Holistic Mental Health Wellness, where she integrates holistic methods to help her patients achieve mental wellness.
Tangee is deeply committed to educating her patients about the potential benefits of holistic practices, giving them the tools to reduce, and in many cases eliminate, reliance on traditional medications while finding peace and clarity.
Through her own personal journey of self-care, Tangee discovered the power of meditation and "letting go," which not only helped her manage her own mental health but also better prepared her to serve her patients.
In her practice, Tangee focuses on addressing the underlying trauma that often contributes to mental health struggles.
While she primarily receives referrals from her local hospital, her reputation has grown, and her approach has helped many find balance through services like life coaching, energy work, spiritual psychiatry, and meditation.
Tangee’s practice offers a unique approach to mental health that combines traditional care with alternative methods, and she continues to expand the services she offers to meet the needs of her growing patient base.
To learn more about Tangee’s approach to mental health and holistic wellness, you can contact her directly at [email protected] or call 224-366-7537.

  • From Burnout to Legal Nurse Consulting: Shaun Sever's Entrepreneurial Journey
In this episode, we sit down with Shaun Sever, a US veteran and nurse who transitioned into nursing after her retirement from the military.
Shaun's nursing career began in homecare and medical-surgical roles, but it was in the ER, where she served both adults and children for over a decade, that she truly found her calling.
Passionate about helping people, Shaun loved the fast-paced and impactful environment of the emergency room.
However, after experiencing burnout in the traditional hospital setting, she sought a new way to continue practicing nursing that would allow her to avoid the stress of the ER while still making a difference.
Today, Shaun is the founder of SPLNC (Sever Professional Legal Nurse Consulting), where she provides a range of services, including IVs, injections, and legal nurse consulting.
Operating from the comfort of her own home, Shaun leverages her experience and network of contracted professionals to assist with legal nurse consulting services in various areas, such as workers' compensation cases, personal injury, medical negligence, and more.
She credits much of her success to her ability to market her services continuously, particularly through social media, to stay competitive in the legal nurse consulting (LNC) field.
Shaun emphasizes the importance of persistence in building a successful LNC business. Even with just a handful of attorneys, it’s possible to establish a steady stream of work.
For Shaun, her journey has been about leveraging her skills, networking, and always being visible to those who may need her services.

  • Reimagining Healthcare: Cole Whitmoyer's Direct Primary Care Revolution
This week, we speak with Cole Whitmoyer DNP, FNP-BC, the founder of Flex Family Health, a Direct Primary Care practice that’s changing the way healthcare is delivered.
Cole’s journey into nursing started in the Med-Surgical and ER fields, where he quickly noticed the inefficiencies and limitations of traditional healthcare systems.
This early experience led him to become disillusioned with the status quo, ultimately motivating him to return to school and pursue his Nurse Practitioner degree with the goal of creating a new, more patient-focused model of care.
In 2021, Cole founded Flex Family Health, a Direct Primary Care practice that eliminates the need for insurance.
Instead, patients pay a monthly fee for direct, transparent access to their provider, fostering a personal and affordable relationship between patients and their healthcare provider.
By removing the complexities of insurance, Cole is able to provide his patients with higher quality, more accessible care that is truly centered around the individual.
Even though Cole’s practice has been open for just two years, he has already grown his patient base to over 700 individuals and continues to see steady growth. His vision for Flex Family Health is to reshape how people view and experience healthcare by offering a more honest and patient-driven approach.

  • Flourishing in Integrative Medicine: Jen Owen's Journey to Health and Entrepreneurship
This week’s guest Jen Owen is an Integrative Medicine Nurse Practitioner and the owner of The Flourish Center.
With nearly thirty years of experience as an herbalist, Jen decided early on to pursue a career in nursing to learn more about patient care, eventually becoming an NP.
She also has an entrepreneurial spirit which led her to starting two practices in the last eight years--one in Indiana and now her current practice in Oregon.
Jen describes functional medicine as using in-depth methods to uncover the “physical roots” of health problems. While functional medicine is effective, it’s still not widely accepted, even though most integrative practices are scientifically proven.
Through The Flourish Center, Jen pushes past the perceptions of functional medicine and works with her clients to identify the root of health issues so her clients can live happier and healthier lives.
Once word got out about Jen’s experience starting and selling her own practices, other NPs began to seek her advice on how to start their own successful practices.
This turned out to be another business opportunity for Jen, which she transformed into a master course teaching nurses how to start their own integrative health practices.
