  • Squat Cobbler 34: Alice Cooper – Constrictor (review)
    The world needs guts
This week Mike and Kelly discuss Alice Cooper’s 16th album, “Constrictor” and talk tattoos at the end of the show.  After a couple years of “retirement”, Alice teams with Kane Roberts for a most encouraging return.  Perhaps a little filler here and there, but this is a very fun album overall.  The clear standout song is “He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask)” from the Friday the 13th series.

SMLTBCBPB (Song most likely to be covered by Pat Boone):
Mike – Thrill My Gorilla (ed note: Mike has Pat in a gorilla suit performing it)
Kelly – Life and the Death of the Party
Constrictor ended up at #8 on Mike’s list and #9 on Kelly’s.

  • Squat Cobbler 33: Tales of Pirates and Snews
After determining there are fewer parallels between Jesus and Mike than Mike originally thought, we get on with the show…
Kelly’s recommendation – Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Men Tell No Tales

OK, it’s a Pirates movie, but one of the better ones.  Fun. great special effects, implausible scenes galore, and a cgi Depp.  What more can you want?
    Mike’s recommendation – Snews
Tony (@TonySolo on Twitter), co-host of the former Snarkalec Radio internet radio show/YouTube thingie with Mike and Kelly, and Dylan (@Holidill) host a monthly YouTube show called “The Snews”.  The show covers zombies, sci-fi movies, birthdays… and whatever else comes up.
You can find the Snews on Tony’s YouTube channel
Here is the Snarkalec Radio reunion show mentioned on this week’s podcast (the one that apparently Mike and Kelly diminished in value).  NSFW

  • Squat Cobbler 32: Alice Cooper – DaDa (review)
I love that mountain with them four big heads…

This week Mike and Kelly discuss Alice Cooper’s 15th album, “DaDa”.  Bob Ezrin and Dick Wagner return – and you can tell.  It is a mix of strong songs (Da Da, I Love America) and some not so strong ones (Dyslexia, Fresh Blood).  Also, we get Dali cover art.

SMLTBCBPB (Song most likely to be covered by Pat Boone):  I Love America
DaDa ended up at #8 on Mike’s list and #9 on Kelly’s.

  • Squat Cobbler 31: Hail to the Pagan
Jam packed show this week including the announcement of the Bilinski/Thul 2020 presidential ticket.
Mike’s recommendation – Korg monotron delay
An affordable way to start to play with analog music.  You get an amazing amount of capabilities from a device not much larger than a smart phone.  Also much safer than Mike’s water-based keyboard.
Kelly’s recommendation – Better Call Saul Insider Podcast
This is the second best recap show for Better Call Saul, after “A Saul and Battery“.  Show creators Vince Gillian and Peter Gould participate in every show and it is full of insights and backstory of the production, writing, and filming of one of the best shows on TV currently.

And, as promised, here is the 2000% not safe for work show Mike and Dylan (@holidill) did review the movie “Showgirls”.

  • Squat Cobbler 30: Alice Cooper – Zipper Catches Skin (review)
If I aint cool my daddy’s gonna send me to military school…

This week Mike and Kelly discuss Alice Cooper’s 14th album, “Zipper Catches Skin”.  Twitchy, strange, different than any Alice we have heard so far – this is a flawed, but enjoyable album.
The album features Zorro, Scrooge, dead pets returning to save their master and an “On Golden Pond” reference.  So, you probably get the idea this is a tad different than other outings by Mr. Cooper.
Mike VASTLY under-rated “Zorro’s Ascent” on this album.  Uncertain?  Behold….

SMLTBCBPB (Song most likely to be covered by Pat Boone):
Mike – No Baloney Homo Sapiens (for Steve and ET)
    Kelly – I Like Girls
Zipper ended up at #11 on both Mike’s and Kelly’s lists.

  • Squat Cobbler 29 – Shock the Riverdale
After some questionable disclaimer work from Mike, we have some live music and TV for you this week…
Kelly’s Recommendation – Peter Gabriel Plays Live

An outstanding 2 CD live album by Peter Gabriel.  Kelly actually attended one of the shows used on this album. Strong throughout… highlights include The Rhythm of the Heat and Biko (of course).
    Mike’s Recommendation – Riverdale

A joint venture between the CW and Netflix, Riverdale is basically the classic Archie comic crew, with a hint of the horror Archie series, meets David Lynch.  So there you go.

  • Squat Cobbler 28: Alice Cooper – Special Forces (review)

This week Mike and Kelly discuss Alice Cooper’s 13th album, “Special Forces”.  Grittier and tougher than its predecessor “Flush the Fashion”, Special Forces is a fun listen but seldom soars to the heights of some of the best material from Alice.
That said, check out You’re a Movie, Skeletons In My Closet, and Who Do You Think We Are… fun songs!
There was a tour to support this album (which Kelly saw) and here is pretty complete documentation of it in glorious black and white…

  • Squat Cobbler 27 – Ice Cream and Soy Sauce
This week is not for the children.  Fair Warning.
Mike’s bandmate Corey joins the show and things get off to a rocky start right off the bat regarding the episode number.  Then Mike is Mike.  Then the recommendations…
Mike’s Recommendation – Synthwave artist Vampire Stepdad
Synth wave music plus a vampire pitching why he will be awesome as your step dad.  Full show below.

    Corey’s Recommendation – Critical Role
Critical Role on the Geek and Sundry YouTube channel features several outstanding voice actors playing Dungeons & Dragons.  They are also on Twitch.  Kelly and Corey determined Mike would be a Chaotic Neutral ex-cleric in a mumu if he ever played D&D.
    Kelly’s Recommendation – Chapter 27 (2007)
Chapter 27 depicts Mark David Chapman’s days in New York prior to him shooting John Lennon.  It provides a great deal of the details surrounding this event and features a bloated Jared Leto as Chapman.

  • Squat Cobbler 26: Alice Cooper – Flush the Fashion (review)

This week Mike and Kelly discuss Alice Cooper’s 12th album, “Flush the Fashion”….for longer than the album’s actual run time.  A likable album, but Alice’s foray into New Wave was not 100% successful in their minds.
Audio is a little rough on this one gang.  There were a lot of Google Hangout issues and Mike ended up doing the show from his phone.  Sorry about that.  Way to phone it in Mike.
Here is the Pink Lady and Jeff appearance Kelly mentioned of Alice singing “Clones (We’re All)”…
