Nurture and Support

Tangent Tally: 0!!

This week we mix things up a it and discuss our “shelter at home” projects.

Kelly’s project… my first retaining wall

This bad boy will be 20-22 feet long and probably 4 runs of pavers

Dr. Mike’s project – Liquor cabinet restore and upgrade

You really need to listen to the rich history of this liquor cabinet. In addition to restoring it, Mike plans to add a hidden game system.

Bonus content, Mike’s earlier ladder project

Stay tuned for updates

This week Mel and I are joined by Dr. Mike and he and I offer a rare joint recommendation.

Mel’s Recommendation – Stardew Valley

Mel recommends a game that will give you all of the joy of Animal Crossing, but for $7.99 in an app store verses having to buy a Switch.

Mike & Kelly’s Recommendation – Tiger King on Netflix

You all have likely heard of it, but if you haven’t watched yet, you owe it to yourself to board this train to crazytown.

Social Media Recommendation – Any music video by Joe Exotic on YouTube

As always, this episode is also available on YouTube.

Some viewing or reading options this week folks….

Kelly’s recommendation – ScreenCrush YouTube channel

This channel provides breakdowns, analysis, Easter eggs, etc. about Star Wars and Superhero movies and TV shows.  The host is funny and knowledgeable.  Be sure to check out their Clone Wars season 7 material!

Mel’s recommendation –  American Demon

This week Mel recommends the next chapter of The Hollows series by Kim Harrison, “American Demon”.  We also get some much deserved plugging of Goodreads as well.  This book won’t be out until June 16, but Mel won a free advanced reading copy!  She strongly encourages everyone to preorder this.  This is a continuation of the story with witches, demons, vampires, pixies, and no tomatoes on salads 🙂

As a reminder, Mel’s book recommendations are quite convincing…

This week Dr. Mike and I discuss the Frank Zappa / Captain Beefheart / The Mothers of Invention album “Bong Fury”.  This is a great mix of the two very different styles of Beefheart and Zappa.

This episode is also available on YouTube.

Mike felt “Sam With the Showing Scalp Flat Top” had some parallels with this Prince song.  You decide…

This week Mel and I are joined by Dr. Mike.  Again.  Will it ever stop???

Mel’s recommendation – Legendary Game of Heroes

This is a fun, yet not cost free game where you can join a guild and help each other out.

Mel’s guild “Black Cat Coven” has some openings if you want to join… hit her up at @karmic9 on Twitter if you are interested.

Mike’s recommendation –  Victrola 6-in-1 Wood Bluetooth Mid Century Record Player

Mikes recommendation is a versatile, price-friendly turntable.  Of course his recommendation was rife with judgement on other lower cost options… like mine.  During the recommendation we get to learn about Mel’s K-pop mishap.  Here are some pics of Mike’s elitist option…

Kelly’s recommendation – Orbi

My recommendation is the Orbi.  This is a reasonable option to improve your home WiFi coverage.  Hooking 2.4 GHz only devices can be a bit tricky, but its performance has been solid.

Yes, we have returned to the crowd favorite type of episode – one where Dr. Mike and I take on the issues of the day.

On this “Squat Issues” we discuss the question: “Can you buy an election?”.

Stick around until the end because we also added a bonus section for this episode where Mike announces he will be Mayor of Hell Michigan on April 20 (for a day).  He MAY also promote his next album release.  More information on that can be found on the official Pagan site.

Even if you don’t care, please listen to the addition at the end.  I am proud of the edit.

This week Mel and I offer up two very different recommendations.  And I still don’t get ASMR.

Kelly’s recommendation – Stobe the Hobo Youtube Channel

Let’s address this right away.  I sincerely apologize for pronouncing Stobe as “Stub” or “Strobe” throughout the episode.  I have no clue why I goofed this up.  I think I did it correctly ONCE. Regardless, this is an intriguing channel from an intriguing man as he hops freight trains across the country.

Mel’s recommendation – Soke iPad Screen protector

Protect your iPad screen and make even better use of the Apple pencil with this highly affordable quality screen protector.  Mel loves it and you can even reposition it much easier than the typical screen protector.

As promised, here is a link back to Mel’s awesome book recommendation from a recent podcast.

This week Dr. Mike and I discuss the original Marilyn Manson group’s album “Portrait Of An American Family”.

Along with the review you’ll hear an interesting story of a very young Mike’s interaction with the group.  This explains a lot.
