Nurture The Mind

Not a music reaction today, rather I decided to react to the controversy surrounding what comedian, Shane Gillis said in his opening SNL monologue. In reacting to what he said, I really don't see anything at all that was damaging. What he said was true. It's also important to remember that he was performing comedy. It appears that once again, too many people out there are having such an overreaction to this. I feel like I needed to go deeper and expand on what was covered in the joke because it really points to a troubling disconnect between men and women. Stick around if that sounds interesting to you!

Music Monday Ep. 169:

We are rewinding the clock to 2011 to listen to some old-school Falling in Reverse. For this reaction I had the blessing of checking out the original version of, 'I'm Not A Vampire' by Ronnie Radke and Falling in Reverse off of their first album, 'The Drug in Me is You'. I prefer the revamped version of this song, although the original one is still a fun listen. The music video has had some funny elements to it. Ronnie looked much different with his hair and non-blacked out tattoos. The music video is way less cinematic then all of the one's the have put out in recent years. That also makes sense when this song came legitimately 15 years ago.

Music Monday Ep.168: This week we return to my favorite artist/musician of all time, Mr. Mac Miller. His estate released a 10 year anniversary album for 'The Divine Feminine' that included 3 new tracks that were recorded in that era that the public has now heard yet. The single from those 3 tracks is, 'Butterflies'. I have already done a reaction on that song on the channel. For this reaction, I was able to listen to the other 2 tracks, 'Grand' and 'Channel 13'. It is always an honor to listen to Mac's music, dissect, and see what we come out with on the other side.

Music Monday Ep. 167: We return to two great artists who have both been on this channel before! It is none other than Ren and Chris Webby! I guess they did a collab album that earlier this summer and I wasn't looking for it. For this reaction I was able to listen and watch the music video for the song, 'Smoking Gun' (Sick Boi Remix). I've never been disappointed with these two artists. They always deliver solo and are now delivering as a duo. After this reaction, it is safe to say that I need to check out their whole collaboration album they put put together. Fun one as always. Enjoy!

Music Monday Ep. 166: This week we return to a collection of some of my favorite artists of all time! Falling in Reverse, Ronnie Radke, Corey Taylor, and Serj Tankian. Ronnie was able to assemble the avengers of rock and metal greats from over the last 20 years or so to collab on this epic song and music video for, 'Joseph'. Does this mean here in the not so distant future that we will get a new album from Falling in Reverse? We shall see and we can only hope/pray/have faith. Are we surprised at this point that Ronnie has been able to not only hit, but to absolutely smash the goalpost with this record and music video? All of Falling in Reverse's music videos feel like absolute cinema. Always excited for what they will be cooking up next.

Music Monday Ep. 165: We have another suggestion from  @SparkimusPrime ! This time I got to listen to 'Boujee Natives' by Snotty Nose Rez Kids. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the music video for the song. The song itself was a lot different from what I heard last week with Kid Bookie and Corey Taylor. It was interesting to hear about their indigenous tribe, where they came from/grew up, and what all of the different words and terminology meant that they were using in their lyrics. Another fun reaction and suggestion! Keep the suggestions coming in the comment section below this video and I will eventually get around to it.

Music Monday Ep. 164: This week introduces another new artist to the channel from a subscriber from 5 years ago,  @SparkimusPrime . She suggested a long time ago that I check out, 'Stuck In My Ways' by Kid Bookie feat. (Corey Taylor). Turns out it was such a solid song choice. A lot of movement in this song. Cool to see Corey Taylor rap. Kid Bookie was a man on a mission with his flows. They fit together very well. She has another suggestion for me from the same comment that she left, so I will most likely be checking that out next week.

Music Monday Ep. 163: This week I switched things up and went back to my comment section to see what you guys have suggested I go listen to. This suggestion goes all the way back to 2021 off of my 2nd music reaction ever. @ianlichty95, someone I know from high school recommended I go check out the song, 'Rolling Stone' by JMSN. What a treat this gem and song was! Fantastic first listen, which makes me extremely excited to get back in to doing your guys recommendations for song choices. It is something I have been neglecting consistently for a long time now on this channel. This is the moment where I change that. Hope you guys enjoy the episode!

Music Monday Ep. 162: this week we look at my favorite artist of all time, Mr. Mac Miller. Coming up very soon will be the 10 year anniversary of his album, 'The Divine Feminine'. His estate is releasing a deluxe edition of that album with a bonus 3 tracks that have never been heard before. For this music reaction, I went with the single out of those 3 songs, 'Butterflies'. It is always a good day when I get to listen to Mac's music. Crazy to think that it had been almost 8 years since this man has passed away. Taken away from this earth too soon. A young legend. Enjoy the music reaction.

Music Monday Ep. 161: We spend another week with honestav. This time I got to listen to him solo off of his newest album, 'Sweet American Boy'. The song I chose to listen to is called, 'Know Better'. I also got to watch the music video. I didn't care for this one as much as I did, 'Crash First' feat. mgk. It's not to say that this track is bad, it's just that my preference would be behind the energy and beat switch of what crashing first suggests. Once again, like almost any honestav song I've heard, the man enters the room with brutal honesty. He repeatedly says in this track that he is insecure and overwhelmed. Enjoy the reaction and let's start a discussion in the comment section.
