    Dramatic Increase in Remote Workforce

Working from home, or is it living at work?  Nearly everyone has been affected, either directly or indirectly, by the shift to remote work.

Although remote work had been increasingly common, the pandemic caused a spike that has fundamentally altered attitudes by both employees and employers. FlexJobs.com reports that “a Gartner survey of company leaders found that 80% plan to allow employees to work remotely at least part of the time after the pandemic, and 47% will allow employees to work from home full-time. In a PwC survey of 669 CEOs, 78% agree that remote collaboration is here to stay for the long-term. In a recent FlexJobs survey, 65% of respondents report wanting to be full-time remote employees post-pandemic, and 31% want a hybrid remote work environment—that’s 96% who desire some form of remote work.”

  • Nutanix Weekly: Introducing Data Discovery, Classification and Security for Nutanix Files

Nutanix Files provides single pane of glass management simplicity, software defined flexibility, and deep analytics intelligence to meet the modern challenges organizations face around file data. Nucleus Cyber’s NC Protect data-centric security solution is now validated as a Nutanix Ready AHV to provide Nutanix Files users with the ability to dynamically discover, classify and secure sensitive data to ensure secure collaboration and meet regulatory compliance.

In addition to discovery and classification capabilities, NC Protect for Nutanix Files dynamically controls access to business-critical content and restricts how authorized users can share it and with whom, based on real-time comparison of user context and file content to enforce data governance and security policies. NC Protect provides unmatched information protection capabilities to prevent accidental sharing, data misuse and loss, while maintaining a simple and intuitive user experience that empowers customers to start securing information in hours, not days or weeks.

“Our client’s top priority, especially in the age of remote work, is to protect sensitive data stored and collaborated in Nutanix Files,” said Jayson O’Reilly, General Manager at Atvance Intellect. “Using NC Protect, customers can prevent unauthorized access to or sharing of sensitive documents in Nutanix Files. They can also leverage those same protections in other file shares and collaboration systems, such as Windows file shares, Office 365, and Microsoft SharePoint, all from the NC Protect platform to centrally manage data security.”

  • Nutanix Weekly: Data Analytics & CybersecurityTrends, Threats & Tales From The Cyber Crypt

Many organizations’ plans around digital transformation and work from anywhere (WFA) initiatives were realized in 2020. Why? Simple, you either delivered it so your organization could continue to conduct business, or you couldn’t, and your business has struggled to keep pace. At  its core, digital transformation is business transformation. And doing business in 2020 was disrupted by the pandemic.

  • Nutanix Weekly: Nutanix and AMD Break the User Density Bottleneck

When provisioning End User Computing (EUC) solutions (providing virtual desktops and applications to end users) hardware and software limitations have kept the conversations centered on finding a balance between maximum density and the most optimal user experience. In this blog, I’ll describe how innovation from Nutanix and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) effectively eliminate this constraint, allowing organizations to focus on fulfilling business requirements and justifications instead.

  • Nutanix Weekly: Nutanix Foundation Central Overview and What's New in Version 1.1

    *Original Release

With remote working now the new normal, it is challenging to send skilled IT professionals to data centers to install new equipment. Although Nutanix clusters have always been quick to install and configure, there was still a requirement to send a trained IT technician to site to run the Foundation software for deployment, usually connected to a local laptop. For large-scale or multiple sites, this can be a costly exercise.

How could we make this even easier in a ‘work from home’ world?

With the launch of Nutanix Foundation Central 1.0 with Prism Central 5.17, this specialist requirement is now removed.

    *Update

Out today Foundation Central Release 1.1

Foundation Central is the Nutanix service used to create clusters from factory-imaged nodes remotely from Prism Central.

  • Nutanix Weekly: Top 5 DaaS Mistakes and How to Avoid Them Part 2 of 5: Single User vs. Multi-User

Unfortunately, DaaS also “ain’t all sunshine and rainbows” (or, if it were up to me, BMW motorcycles and bacon cheeseburgers 😋).

More often than not, even the most experienced IT professionals will still run into TCO, design, sizing, user experience, and administration challenges when it comes to DaaS. Folks seem to forget that matching the right use case to the right solution, managing expectations, proper budget planning, and solid design practices still apply in the world of public cloud and DaaS.

The purpose of this five-part blog series is to help you identify and (more importantly) avoid the mistakes that others have made when it comes to implementing a DaaS solution!

  • Nutanix of Weekly: How To Ransomware Proof your Backups

Organizations worldwide are in the midst of a massive wave of cybersecurity threats. Gartner reported that “ransomware families have grown by more than 700% in the last few years.” Every company is struggling to protect their data - the most important digital asset. As these attacks continue to mature both in frequency and intensity, their impact on business has grown exponentially. It is no longer something that happens to someone else; it is happening globally to both small and large organizations, indiscriminately, across all industries.

So, what are the implications? Imagine being a CIO of a hospital hit by a ransomware attack during a pandemic. The immediate impact is a major interruption in the ability to service patients, schedule appointments, retrieving patient records, and crippling all communication. The potential long-term impact is loss of sensitive patient data, loss of reputation, and of course loss of revenue.
