Nutty Bites: Down the Rabbit Hole – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2017

Down the Rabbit Hole is a youtube series by Fredrik Knudsen. He approaches more modern internet stories like a historian. Chronicling often the depths of drama (Like NeoPets, Sonichu, and darksydephil) that leads one down the rabbit hole. He also delves into offline stories like the Collyer Brothers and Plague Doctors. I find his stories fascinating and love that he has released updates and corrections and look forward to more information coming out thanks to his videos. There aren't many videos yet but he is steady in his 2 week release schedule. I paired this with some stovetop popcorn.

Nutty Bites: Gotham – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2017

Gotham should have been called GCPD, too many people who watch expect a Batman story, and that isn't what this show is about. They would have been better off not even including Bruce Wayne (though we would have not has the most awesome Alfred). This is Jim Gordon's story more than anything. I paired this with Pho because it is magical and sometimes medicinal.

Nutty Bites: Absolutely Fabulous the Movie – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2017

Absolutely Fabulous was a favorite show from way back and I have always loved the hilariously awful duo of Patsy and Edwina. When I heard there was a movie coming out my only thought was "Please don't be bad." It wasn't, it was everything I might have expected it to be. It is awful and full of pop culture jokes, the AbFab duo is clinging to anything trendy and getting it 100% wrong, as always. It is hilarious. It's not a mockery of anyone one real person but a mockery of the idea of chasing the latest thing I think. I paired this with champagne cupcakes with 24K gold dust on top of the champagne butter cream, mmmm.

This episode is dedicated to the memory of Fozzi Forester. (I will only call him Fozzi, the name he preferred, not his birth name.) He will be forever missed by now one of the patron saints of Nutty Bites.

Nutty Bites: The Mindy Project – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2017

The Mindy Project is such a fun show that I talked more about how fun it is and never really explained the show. Oops, well it's about a woman who is a OB/GYN and the people in her office and her love life. It's a refreshing take on the medical drama trope and while sometimes I can get annoyed by things on the show I think it strikes a good balance between humor, satire, and being responsible. I paired this with a donut, but I also rambled a bit on making butternut squash risotto the cheating way because that's what I made tonight.

I decidedly didn't talk about Dunkirk for Dinner and a Movie, but I did talk about why it didn't get a Dinner and a Movie episode.

Nutty Bites: Ant-Man - Dinner and a Movie - Dog Days of Podcasting 2017

Ant-Man wasn't marketed properly I thought. It just didn't seem interesting or any fun. Yet when I finally watched the movie I was impressed with how much fun it was. I think this is a lesson that Marvel and other movie houses need to pay attention to, hire comedic actors to play your heroes and the viewers will feel connected to them.

Nutty Bites: Deadpool - Dinner and a Movie - Dog Days of Podcasting 2017

Deadpool and Chimichangas, is there anything more perfect? I don't think so. This movie is a perfect example of breaking all of hollywood's rules and succeeding. I wish the movie industry would take their cue here and have fans make these films and make it for the fans. Not for the masses.

Nutty Bites: Mad Max Fury Road and ADD - Dog Days of Podcasting 2017

Mad Max Fury Road was a surprise how much I enjoyed that film. I highly recommend you check it out. I'm a bit off topic here, I talk a lot about ADD and the behaviors that might present themselves. I'm sure some people will listen and think "Sure I get like that too." I'm not sure it is the same though, when it is ADD that is distracting me like this I have so much less control than when it is just mild distraction. What can I said, my brain has it's own brain. I also talk a bit about water, and how much better passable tap water is than the majority of bottled water. I paired the water with Mad Max for Dinner and a Movie.

Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny is a movie I thought I would not enjoy. It took me forever to finally watch it. I ended up liking it. As a bit of a music geek it was a lot of fun. I paired this with home made fries and talk a little bit about becoming the fry whisperer.

Master of None is a fun series with some really important episodes. Be sure to check out Indians on TV, Parents, and NY I Love You. It a a great balance of humor and some real world issues. I paired this with pasta giving my easy sauce recipe and breezed over my pasta recipe since it is more time consuming. I also talk a bit about the eclipse because everyone is right?

Nutty Bites 108: Intro to Ghibli – Princess Mononoke

Princess Mononoke is a great art piece but our panelists debate about whether or not it is a good movie. This was recorded at Balticon 51, the panelists are Nuchtchas, Tek, Jen, Jason, Laura Nicole, and Grig Larson. Sorry if we crushed the heart of the fans, but this panel was divided between loving this movie and not loving it.

Intro to Ghibli, a new regular segment of Nutty Bites and the Talk Nerdy 2 Me Podcasts. Jen & Jason guide newbies Nuchtchas & Tek through the movies of Studio Ghibli. We are starting with the Hayao Miyazaki films in order(ish), just bumping My Neighbor Totoro to the first.  Once we finish those we will hit up the Isao Takahata films, then the Ghibli films without either director, then two non Ghibli Miyazaki films, and we also have some bonus shorts to sprinkle throughout.
