CHRISTOPHER IS RISEN

CHRISTOPHER HAS RETURNED

CHRISTOPHER IS TIRED

Back after a wee paternity break, Chris and Jonathan reunite to talk parenthood, and videogames.

How’s that there Elden Ring on Switch 2? What’s Chris been playing during his ‘night shifts’? Just how bad is MindsEye? What does a game about catching fish have to do with Rez Infinite? And is Mouse Mode on the Switch actually any good in a game like Mewgenics?

Chris is in his second month of parenthood, and that means Jonathan is in his second month of FLYING SOLO!!

He may not have a co-host, but he has got some of your excellent listener questions to answer, covering the most surprising gaming experience, the best local co-op game, the best 5/10 game, the worst 10/10 game and his most wanted remake and remaster!

But has he played games as well this month? You better flipping believe it! It was the summer holidays and he played Splatoon Raiders, Lies of P: Complete Edition and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Anything else?! Yeah! Summer holidays = playing with his daughter and he gives his hot take on what the better game for a 5-year-old is: Bluey the Videogame or Princess Peach Showtime!

Wowsers! (Let’s hope Chris is back next month!)

Do you remember six years ago when Jonathan became a Dad, took a short hiatus from the podcast and let Chris take the reins? Well, it’s payback time!! In absolute celebration of Chris’ newly crowned fatherhood, Jonathan has ditched the dirigible going Around the World in 80 Games and is Flying Solo this month to tell you all about the games he’s played in the last four weeks!

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth released on Switch 2 and Jonathan dove into it having been fully enamoured by the first part in the FFVII Remake Trilogy - in taking things bigger and more expansive, does it make for a better game than Part 1? It’s still only the second Final Fantasy game Jonathan has played, but he shares his thoughts!

No-one asked Jonathan to play three games with rodent protagonists and a colon in the title - but by gosh! - you’ll be glad he did when you hear his musings on Mouse: PI for Hire, Moss: The Forgotten Relic and Tails of Iron II: Whiskers of Winter!

And what of HAAK, Tunic and The Touryst?! Jonathan can’t surely have played all these games too this month?! Shut up. He has.

Bleedin’ ‘eck, we’re in Czechia!

Jonathan has played a lot of videogames this month. Chris, not so much.

Enjoy many spoken words on games such as Final Fantasy Rebirth, Greedland, Spartan Survivors, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Mina the Hollower, The Adventures of Elliot, Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, and… Halo?

Then, digging through the wares of the Czech Republic, Jonathan tackles new release Phonopolis, whilst Chris picks up 22 year old Jets‘n’Guns, just because.

May rumbles to a close. Videogames have been played.

Jonathan makes numbers go up in Vampire Crawlers, Nubby’s Number Factory and Saros, Housemarque’s spiritual sequel to Returnal. Chris returns to the meticulous Blue Prince, balancing the sublime with the ridiculous by also playing through Restore Your Island.

Travelling to Italy, the boys pick up oddball titles Last Day of June, and Ball Bulét: a dour narrative game set to the music of Steven Wilson, and a student project from students of the Accademia Italiana Videogiochi respectively.

A day late, but no one’s really keeping notes are they?

Jonathan plays (and completes) about 37 full games this month, including, but not limited to, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, almost the entire mainline Resident Evil series, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Chris lets the side down by talking entirely too long about retro titles The Last Ninja and Al Unser Jr’s Road To The Top, and Sonic Racing Crossworlds.

Then it’s off to China to pick through some of its more notable videogame offerings with special focus for Black Myth Wukong, Eastward, and I Am Alive.

Hey! You!

Got any plans to fill the next 56 minutes and 27 seconds?

Listening to the latest episode of the O3C Games Podcast you say?

Because you’ve heard that Chris and Jonathan are going to talk about the recent PlayStation ‘State of Play’ as well as Nintendo’s February Partner Direct?

And that Jonathan has some thoughts on the shadow dropped Rayman 30th Anniversary Package?

And that Chris has been playing the weird combo of Skyrim (in its Switch 2 edition) and Easy Come, Easy Golf?

Well, I hope you enjoy it, that sounds fa…

What, there’s more?

The boys are talking about the games of Australia and reviewing both Cult of the Lamb and LA Noire?

I hope you’ve got a refreshing beverage and snack to accompany your listening because that sounds positively delightful!

It’s February! But this episode is mainly about January! And January is rubbish!

Join Jonathan and Chris to catch up on all the games they’ve tootled through over the Christmas break and beyond including: some absolutely bang average titles like Metroid Prime 4 and Little Nightmares III; a whole bunch of bits (and / or bobs) on Switch 2 and Steam; as well as an extended (and very timely I’m sure you’ll all agree) look at some games of the PSVR2.

Then it’s off to Slovakia to chow down on some regional hits, The House of Da Vinci VR, and Felvidek.

Na zdravie!

HEAVY IS THE HEAD THAT WEARS THE PAPER CROWN

It’s the end of the year!

Whilst we may charitably say the socio-political year has been a wee bit mixed, what a rollicking year it’s been for videogames, eh?

Attempting to round up and present some of the year’s best, Jonathan and Chris graciously take time out of their busy holiday schedules (read: gorging on chocolate with friends and family) to chat GAMES. Specifically GAMES OF 2025.

The Playdate also celebrated the launch of its second curated season earlier this year, and joining us to reflect is creator of Playdate showcase Taria & Como, Kip Henderson.
