Believers need to view their wealth as temporary and easily lost. The only certain thing about material things is their uncertainty. Paul reminds us in this text that instead of the temporary, we depend on God and store up treasures in heaven by using what He has entrusted to us in the right way.

As we have studied Paul's guidance given to Timothy throughout this letter, we've see Paul give several commands to Timothy to help him lead. Now as Paul concludes this letter we find encouragment to remain faithful to the end.

The teaching from the Word of God concerning how we're to treat one another is under the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. When people do not practice the scripture concerning these things they are literally teaching "different doctrine" on the matters that the Word reveals to be true godliness.

Our faith in Christ should manifest itself in the workplace. We shouls work for men with the same zeal that we work for the Lord. As we represent our Lord in the workplace, we should do it well by being a model employee.

This passage is important because it highlights for us the responsibilites of church leaders but also shares with us the church's responsibility to aid those who labor in God's World in order to facilitate their ability to do ministry.

Our conduct in the church body will be a witness to others of what it is to live a godly life. Paul gives Timothy instruction on how to minister and care for the church body, how to distribute aid and how to deal with gossip.

Servants of God are responsible for leading and teaching the body of Christ. Here Paul gives Timothy teaching on the public and private responsibilities of leaders to become spiritually mature.

Paul instructs Timothy on false teachers.

For the better part of 2 chapters, Paul has addressed how we as believers should conduct ourselves in the church body. At the close of the 3rd chapter, Paul wants to give us perspective on who we are and who we serve.

As Paul continues his discussion of church leadership, he offers teaching concerning the office of deacon - the equilvent of the role of Elder at OLBC.
