Today we'll look at a charge from Paul and made to Timothy. A charge is a command that is expressed in strong terms. What was the reason for the charge? Paul wanted to remind Timothy that he was given a responsibility by God that he need to hold to. You see for Timothy, the call to serve in ministry was confirmed for him by people with the gift of prophecy in the early church.

No matter how good we may think we are, apart from Chirst we're all sinners who need to be saved by God's grace through Christ Jesus. Some have the opposite problem. Rather than thinking they are too righteous and don't need saving, they think they are too far gone. They are such terrible sinners that God would never receive them. There is room at the cross for both! In fact, what we're going to see this morning is God can take anyone and make them new. Even the most hardened sinner can be transformed into a servant of righeousness.

This week we return to our study of 1 Timothy. Today we'll look at the purpose of God's law.

We are going to leave 1 Timothy this week and jump into the book of 2 Timothy for Mother's Day. Mother’s Day is a time to honor our moms and express gratitude for their influence on us and their encouragement to us to grow and develop into better people. Really that should be the goal of every mother.In 2 Timothy 1:5 Timothy’s mother and grandmother are honored in the eternal Word of God as good examples of mom and grandmother. What set them apart to be honored in this way was their faith. If you want to succeed as a godly mother or grandmother, consider the example of sincere faith Lois and Eunice set before us and then their expression of sincere faith…..

Today we begin a study in 1 Timothy - a letter written by Paul to a young man he had discipled and trained for ministry. What we'll see throughout the study of this letter is this - even though 2000 years removed from this time and several thousand miles away from this place, the same basic problems that this church in Ephesus had are found today. The names of the churhes may change, the names of the people may be different, but the same issues present themselves.How does the church navigate through such problematic times? It does so by having godly leaders who lead according to God's Word. The church needs leaders like Paul and Timothy who train others to take their place when they are gone.

A common idea we hear expressed in our culture is this – “It doesn’t matter what faith you follow, as long as you’re sincere, you’ll get to heaven – all religions are pretty much the same.” The problem is a person’s faith is only as valuable as the object of their faith. If what they believe is untrue, no matter how sincere they are in believing it, there is no salvation in it. Easter Sunday is a clear statement that our faith is true and we serve a risen Savior who died and rose again that we might be made right with God and spiritually alive.Other religious leaders have tombs where they rest. The Lord Jesus Christ has an empty tomb because He lives! He is now at the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for us and where He gives grace in our time of need! That’s the theme of Heb 4:14-16 where we find three truths about our risen Lord!

From the triumphal entry into Jerusalem and cries of "Hosanna" to shouts of "Crucify him!" three days later. The light of Jesus was in the world, but men preferred darkness. How do you live?

In verse 1 we saw a responsibility to approach the errant brother who is caught up in a sin. As we come to the 2nd verse we find an additional command that involves our interaction with other believers. We are to bear one another’s burdens.
