Today we continue our study in the Book of Galatians.

Trying to use something for a purpose that it wasn’t intended to be used for rarely ends well. That’s what we find with the Law. The Law was never meant to make us right with God yet people built a system around an attempt to make it work.As we come to verse 10 of Chapter 3, Paul begins a discussion about seeking to be right with God on the basis of good works though observance of the law. This morning we want to see 4 considerations in seeking to be right with God our way as opposed to God’s way

I’m often asked as a pastor how people in the Old Testament were made righteous. Many wrongly believe that one was made righteous by keeping the law. What we’re going to see this morning is the fact that faith has always been the path to righteousness and it opens the door to God’s blessing

There are many who like to tinker with the simplicity of the gospel. Add to the gospel and you confuse the doctrine of grace that is the heart of the gospel. This is what Paul faced in the first century as the gospel was under attack, and this is what many face today as well.

In the passage this morning we see that people become confused and they in turn confuse the gospel when they add to it. When man seeks to add to the Gospel, it robs it of its power. We never “improve the gospel” by adding to it, either as we give the gospel, or once the gospel had been received.

A situation Paul introduces to the Galatians showed how even a church leader – Peter got caught up in legalism and hurt the body of Christ because of it. It stands as a warning to us all to be careful to not allow legalism to rob us of showing grace to others and fall into the trap of legalism.

In today's passage, Paul defends the gospel he had been called to share. In his defence of the gospel we also find some important perspectives for us as followers of Jesus Christ.

Micha Cohen, a missionary from Jews for Jesus gave a presentation on the significance of the Feast of Booths or Tabernacles. Jews for Jesus is an evangelistic society dedicated to bringing the gospel of Christ to people in places where a distinctlvely Jewish testimony is needed. Jesus not only celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles, but he used it as an occasion of reveal something about his nature and his mission.
