Continuing our coverage of Oakland’s election outcomes, we are in conversation with Oakland City Councilmember-Elect for District 4, Janani Ramachandran, who is one of two new progressives who will take their city council seats come January. Janani Ramachandran is a public interest attorney, activist, and artist. She will be replacing outgoing Councilmember Sheng Thao, who was just elected as Oakland’s mayor.
