Today’s episode is a bit different than usual, we decided to cover a theme around the topic of North Korea. Therefore, we will discuss two books written by Yeonmi Park - in order to live: a North Korean girl’s journey to freedom and Lee Hyeon-seo - The girl with seven names: a North Korean defector’s story. Both books are autobiographies and tells the stories of the authors’ lives in North Korea, how they grew up under an authoritarian regime, how they escaped from North Korea and their journey to South Korea in order to live their lives in ‘freedom’. Along the way they encounter life threatening situations such as: fall in the hands of human traffickers, being sold as slaves, kidnapped and held hostage under dire circumstance. Certainly, these topics are not easy to digest, nevertheless, we hope you appreciate this episode and give a better idea what is going on in North Korea.
