  • 1885: #155 Conversations in Quarantine: Jenn Bork- “Feeling” Fully Alive
Show Notes   Today I really look forward to the show, not so much because of the fascinating content but more because of our ultra fascinating guest… my dear, dear brilliant friend, Jennifer Bork. Now, Jenn comes to us with no breathtaking resume, has authored no books, has no blog, podcast or business that places her atop the so-called social scale of that which most Americans secretly strive for. Instead, Jenn Bork is a wife of Jon Bork, mother of two amazing children August and Tessa, a Facebook Make up guru, and a gym and boxing fanatic … but mostly Jennifer is a woman with as much practical wisdom as anyone I know. Jennifer and I worked very closely together in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Officially she was Executive Director of my company, but truly she did her best job as my creative muse. Apart from my wife, no one “gets me” like Jennifer. She understands both my personal strengths as well as my core pathologies that drive half of what I do and I think. So today, Jenn and I will have a somewhat rambling conversation, catching up, after nearly a decade of very brief contact, as we brainstorm the meaning of life for the average individual and l most likely will slip into discussion about the impacts and learnings from months of quarantine. So, Jenn Bork, welcome to The Next Chapter with Me.   Visit Jennifer on Facebook at her Page: Jennifer Bork   For more with Charlie Hedges please visit www.thenextchapter.life

  • 1884: Employee happiness can help protect and safeguard your business success
“Happiness depends upon ourselves.” – Aristotle
Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.” – Dalai Lama
I’m joined today by Nic Marks Founder of Friday Pulse https://www.fridaypulse.com/, a Statistician, Happiness expert, and TED speaker.
Happiness is a relatively new area of science influencing organizational development -- the science of happiness for a professional perspective on an organization's happiness.
Happiness is how we naturally talk about positivity - and all the benefits that flow from feeling upbeat. Happy is what we want for our children, and it’s what we want to be at work. Positive emotions improve physical health, intellectual abilities, psychological resilience, and our relationships.

  • 1881: Communication tools and infrastructure in the new normal business world
Brian Andersen, Digital transformation specialist and founder of Telecomphrensive Solutions works with businesses to help them think through their technology strategy, focusing on customer experience, employee satisfaction, security, and ease of use in the new normal of remote workers.

Life changed two-plus months ago as employees headed home to work as a result of the Coronavirus.  Who thought, including myself, that two months later we'd be working from home…hopping on endless zoom meetings would become the norm.

The question becomes, as the guidelines start to lift and it becomes safer in the workplace, will working from home be more of the norm than the occasional telecommuter.

And with these changes comes the needed and necessary communications tools and infrastructure that for most companies didn’t exist.

    Listen in as we explore!

  • 1880: Denominations, Change and Culture with Dr. Doug Rehberg
The numbers aren’t good. They really aren’t. Church attendance. Church membership. Religious affiliation.  All down. Gallop tells us that in the past 20 years church membership has gone down a percent a year. 20 years ago 70% of Americans were church members. Now it is 50% and I probably don’t need to tell you that the younger a person is the less likely they have any religious affiliation. If we dig into that a bit we discover some more trends that are no longer breaking news. Mainline Denominations are leading in this decline. We also discover that this trend is not world wide. According the Guardian “religion is on the wane in western Europe and North America, and it’s growing everywhere else.” Interesting. To help us navigate these swirling waters we have a guest today uniquely qualified to speak on the subject. He’s a mainline Presbyterian pastor who has never bought into the status quo although he is so buttoned down he makes L.L. Bean apologize for their trendiness. Dr. Doug Rehberg started out as an economist with a MPA degree from George Washington, even worked for the EPA before turning religious and getting another masters, this time to Princeton for his Master of Divinity Degree and then got his Doctorate in Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary. Maybe he can help us sort out this morass of change and tell us what it means.Welcome Dr. Rehberg to Church Hurts And.
