  • 1867: #152Conversations in Quarantine: Terry Hershey- A World on Tilt
Show Notes Hey Paul, did you realize that when this show goes live we will have been in some kind of quarantine for 10-12 weeks? Now, for those few of us that are old and introverted, this really hasn’t been all that difficult. But I think of many others… people with kids, or couples in relationships that are not so good or, worse, what about those tragic occurrences of abusive homes. Man… I can’t imagine. My heart genuinely goes out… But, on the other hand, I think for the majority of us, this time of quarantine is more like a gross inconvenience than any thing else. Sure I miss my sushi, my movies and my museums. Only God knows when those will return. (Who knows if a sushi bar will ever be back?) But those are the kinds of the issues we are facing aren’t they? Only God knows… certainly not our country’s leaders, who are all forced to function with no guidelines and no precedents—just sort of making it up as they go along. Surely, these days we are like A World on Tilt. Today, in our Conversations in Quarantine, I want to chat about these thoughts with my dear friend and compatriot Terry Hershey. Terry and I will play will the by same rules in the show today: no map and no agenda—only conversation, like… two guys sitting with two beers, well, except… my beer will be sparkling water. Goldberg, Esq, who is a transactional business attorney and has been practicing in Southern California for over 33 years.  Lee has extensive experience in negotiating and documenting sophisticated real estate, finance, intellectual property, corporate structuring, M&A and many other business transactions.  Currently, the majority of Lee’s practice consists of acting as outside general counsel to numerous companies across a broad spectrum of industries, handling all legal aspects of his client’s businesses, including business structuring, contracting, labor and employment issues, client contract matters, trade supplier contracts, statutory and corporate compliance, insurance contracts and claims, and dispute resolution (litigation management).
In this episode learn:- Why it will be important to comply with COVID-19 regulations when you reopen your business - What potential legal recourse may occur if you do not comply with regulations - Why going above and beyond will win consumer trust - How strategic planning will position you and your brand to be more effective in your reopening efforts
When asked what his ultimate lesson learned has been, Mr. Goldberg shared that, “you get more with sugar than you do with vinegar.”

  • 1863: #151 Glenn Parrish: Conversations in Quarantine-The Future of the Arts and Non-Profits
Show Notes In keeping with the intentions of our current series “Conversations in Quarantine,” it has been at least one year since our guest today and I have met face to face… and he lives within 10 miles of me. I guess that tells you about friendships with an introvert. It’s not that we don’t like people. We just don’t want to wear out our welcome. I have been trying to get today’s guest on the show since our inception. Well, here we are 150 episodes in, and we finally have with us, Glenn Parrish—the guy I like to refer to as “the Smartest Man I Know.” Glenn comes to us with, not only intellect, but also immense passion for the disenfranchised and the disregarded. As a professional Philanthropist with more than 30 years of leadership experience, Glenn brings creative insight into the art of philanthropy. As a professional in philanthropy he has overseen and facilitated the investment of over $150 Million in strategic philanthropic enterprises. Today Glenn Parrish works as Partner and Executive Director of Sudara Inc. and Sudara Freedom Fund. In addition he works actively with the Masimo Foundation, The Rising Tide Joint Venture, and the Sacred Harvest Foundation. Yes, Glenn is man with the rare and extraordinary intellect combined with a heart for the brokenness of humanity.   For more with Charlie Hedges please visit www.thenextchapter.life

  • 1861: Episode #42 – Special COVID-19 Workplace Perspective: FAQ With Neil Pedersen, Esq. (Part 2)
    Neil Pedersen, Esq.
Today's guest is attorney Neil Pedersen, Founder and Principal Attorney at Pedersen Law. SAFFIRE LEGAL PC’s founder and principal attorney Teresa McQueen and Neil provide responses to some FAQs regarding COVID-19 and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act's (FFCRA) Emergency Family Medical Leave Response and Emergency Paid Sick Leave Acts.  Neil also shares his thoughts and experiences as a small business owner in transitioning his 'brick and morter' law practice to a functioning remote workforce.
Designated as a world-wide pandemic in early March, the effects of COVID-19 are touching all of our lives with far reaching implications as the edges of our personal and professional lives begin to blend together; a direct result of 'shelter in-place' orders and the shuttering non-essential workplaces. Teresa and Neil provide employee and employer perspectives regarding leave, layoffs and sick pay provisions of the FFCRA.

Workplace Perspective is a regular podcast series for employers and employees focusing on education, training, and the law to help organizations of all sizes develop and maintain successful employer / employee relationships.
Shortly California's Governor Gavin Newsom's March 19, 2020 stay at home order was issued we at Workplace Perspective began preparing a series of COVID-19 related episodes. Our goal: To share some real stories from real people who are, like you our listeners, dealing with this novel and ever changing environment. We hope you find our guests stories inspirational, affirming and encouraging.
Rest assured that we at Workplace Perspective, in compliance with California's shelter in-place order, are broadcasting for the foreseeable future from our make-shift home studios. We thank you for your continued support!
