  • 1852: #148 Conversations in Quarantine: Caitlyn Cogan Doemner: Is the Universe for Us or Against Us?
Show Notes  Well Paul… Here we are on April 15, 2020, more than 30 days into some form of quarantine. As we continue to do our shows remotely we will, for the 3rd time, have a “Conversation in Quarantine” with a friend of mine that I haven’t spoken with for some time. Today my guest is Caitlyn Cogan Doemner. After studying at Oxford University and then receiving an MBA from Biola University, Caitlin co-founded and launched her sales management company in March 2013. In less than three years, they had earned their first million dollars; within 6 years, they had generated over $10M in new revenue for their clients.  Their clients now include some of the most prestigious names in the coaching industry, including Deepak Chopra. Caitlin has also published multiple books, including “The Unseen Sales Machine” and “Sell with Heart.” Caitlyn and I met about ten years ago at company, which I engaged in executive coaching and management development. She was an unusually bright and intuitive young woman at 25 years old, and now ten years later, hers is a most impressive success story.Caitlyn lives in Apple Valley with her husband Michael, their four kids, 1 cat and 17 chickens. Okay… Paul, it’s time to get Caitlyn Doemner on the line and talk to her in a Conversation in Quarantine. Neil Pedersen, Esq.
Today's guest is attorney Neil Pedersen, Founder and Principal Attorney at Pedersen Law. SAFFIRE LEGAL PC’s founder and principal attorney Teresa McQueen and Neil provide responses to some FAQs regarding COVID-19 and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act's (FFCRA) Emergency Family Medical Leave Response and Emergency Paid Sick Leave Acts.  Neil also shares his thoughts and experiences as a small business owner in transitioning his 'brick and morter' law practice to a functioning remote workforce.
Designated as a world-wide pandemic in early March, the effects of COVID-19 are touching all of our lives with far reaching implications as the edges of our personal and professional lives begin to blend together; a direct result of 'shelter in-place' orders and the shuttering non-essential workplaces. Teresa and Neil provide employee and employer perspectives regarding leave, layoffs and sick pay provisions of the FFCRA.

Workplace Perspective is a regular podcast series for employers and employees focusing on education, training, and the law to help organizations of all sizes develop and maintain successful employer / employee relationships.

  • The CARES Act: What You Need To Know
Host Bart Zandbergen was joined in the studio by co-host Letitia Berbaum to discuss the CARES Act.  The unprecedented $2 trillion coronavirus relief package Congress signed by President Trump on Friday, March 27, has a lot in it to unpack. In fact, Congress is still hammering out some of the fine print. The stimulus package, officially named the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, includes funding to assist industries like airlines, which have been hit hard by travel grinding to a near-halt, and to shore up financial lending markets. But the act also has a number of provisions designed to help out Americans and small business owners struggling with their finances as the COVID-19 virus upends normal life as we know it. The CARES Act is over 800 pages long, but we've pulled out the key parts of the CARES Act that are most likely to help you, your family, or your friends and loved ones.
In this episode Bart and Letitia discuss the following as related to the CARES Act:-CARES Act Implications and Considerations -Small Business Owner Support -Unemployment Assistance -Help for Property Owners / Homeowners -Student Loan Impact

  • 1846: #147 Conversations in Quarantine: Sherry Benjamins: Life in Times of Uncertainty
Show Notes  Last week we began a novel approach to our shows by introducing “Conversations in Quarantine.” We are doing this in response to the suggestion by several leaders that “making phone calls” to friends, especially long lost friends, is a good way to regain some kind of “social connection with people we care about. We plan to do just that… except we are doing it on the podcast. Today I want to call my dear friend, Sherry Benjamins who was on the show just over one year ago. Sherry is the president of the most influential S. Benjamins and Company. From recruitment to strategy to teams to sales, Sherry is actively in the business of “Advancing the Human Side of Business.” A most interesting factoid: The last time Sherry was on The Next Chapter with Charlie, we talked about “Work Reimagined.” Sherry’s expertise is in consulting with senior management on strategic work and worker issues in an unpredictable and changing business landscapes. Well if we thought work was unpredictable one year ago, we certainly have upped the ante in that game. So let’s get Sherry on the phone and talk to her in a Conversation in Quarantine. You can reach Sherry at www.sbcompany.net For more with Charlie Hedges please visit www.thenextchapter.life

We are in unprecedented times as a result of the Coronavirus.  Offices and businesses are closed, and employees are now working from home.  For many, this is a new experience.  And, for many business leaders, this is a new experience as well.

Today at the Café, I’m going speaking with Kimberly Layne, CEO, and founder of The Kimberly Connection Company, about improving broken cultures through connected leadership.  And, how a leader needs to engage with their remote employees during this crisis.
