  • COVID-19 Update: The Possible Treatments for COVID-19 with Kate Chiang
The new year has come, and many of us are still hoping to finally reach the end of the pandemic. However, there are still emerging variants of COVID-19 and many countries are still strictly implementing COVID restrictions to prevent transmission and to lower infection cases. It continuously affects each one of us, our economy, and threatens the future of the younger generation.Ever since the pandemic started, doctors and scientists researched for every drug they could think of to fight the virus. There are lots of potentially effective medications that can be repurposed. However, due to a lack of funding, pharmaceutical companies are rarely interested in research with approved medicines, especially generic drugs. To continue the COVID-19 update, we are joined in this episode by Kate Chiang, the brilliant daughter of Dr. Ajay Gupta, who is a full-time Research and Development Scientist in KARE Boresciences, to continue the discussion about Ramatroban as a possible treatment for COVID-19.Ramatroban is a generic drug used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis. It is currently under investigation to possibly treat COVID-19, sickle cell disease, cardiovascular disease, neurological diseases, obesity, and more. Listen to Episode 17 to learn more.Memorable Quotes:Immune response to COVID-19 would be the major factor in fighting off the virus. - Kate ChiangAnyone can do anything at any age if you will invest yourself in it. - Kate ChiangWe have lots of potentially effective medications out there that can be repurposed to treat other conditions, but nobody wants to do it because it is generic. - Dr. Dung TrinhOther Resources:Karebio.comImportant Points:COVID-19 causes blood clotting which can prevent proper blood circulation throughout the body and may result in organ damage.Money is the barrier to why we couldn’t do clinical trials.Ramatroban is not necessarily COVID specific but it strengthens your immune system enough to fight the virus.About the Guests:Kate Chiang is a part-time TongueOut Youth Ambassador and a full-time Research and Development Scientist in KARE Boresciences. • #221 Dena Crowder 2022: Starting The Year Right
Show Notes  NOTE: It is with a bit of hesitancy that I publish this show. I get scary vulnerable. Oh well. I like the result… so, here you go. ***** I am what you might call an “ideological planner.” When I do personal annual planning, my purpose is about understanding and growing my inner life. I like to work more on who to be than what to do. That’s because what I do is dictated by my character and inner drivers. Today I feel fortunate to have a guest who is an expert on planning the inner life. In fact, she has been my personal coach and continues to guide my thinking about life, the universe, and everything. Dena Crowder offers brilliant insights into who I am and who I am created to be. On this show today, Dena will show me how to define my theme for 2022. And we will explain what that “annual theme” means in the show. Dena is certainly one of my favorite people. Check out her mission: Dena Crowder helps gifted leaders and creatives answer their Higher Calling and shift the status quo.  Over the years, she has helped thousands of people activate their inner power so that they can start or enhance existing businesses, align their personalities with their souls, and take their place in the spotlight.  Dena is on a mission to dethrone power based on fear and scarcity and to return Living Power to its rightful place in our world.  You can contact Dena (and please do) at: Tedx "The Power Is You" https://youtu.be/TPOW1ZbGiSA Website http://DenaCrowder.com Dena on https://www.instagram.com/dena.crowder/

  • Driven to Succeed: Cultural Imperative Within the Asian Community with Dr. Grove
No one can ever deny the power of education. It can change and uplift our lives as it provides us with the knowledge and tools to survive in life. Yet many of us misunderstand the true essence of education and the real reason why learning is important.Education isn’t just about the grade you are trying to get every semester or your professor’s lectures you’re reviewing just to pass your midterms or finals. Rather, it’s mainly about learning to find solutions to the problems you can encounter. There are several differences between Asian and Western cultures and one of these is how they view education. In this episode, Dr. Cornelius Grove joins Dr. Trinh to dig deeper into how culture affects our educational system and how American culture differs from Asian culture in terms of priority and passion for education. Are you curious why most Asians prefer western education and why they choose to study at American universities rather than in their country? Listen to Episode 15.Memorable Quotes:What the family wants is what the members of the family want. - Dr. Grove In American culture, we emphasize “Follow your dreams and your passion” but I’m not sure if that exists in Asia because they’re more like what’s good for the family. - Dr. Dung TrinhYour dream and your passion may require a great deal of education. - Dr. GroveA CEO isn’t necessarily an A-student. - Dr. Dung TrinhOther Resources:Mirror For AmericansThe Drive to LearnImportant Points:East Asian families give high emphasis on academicsWhen children choose what they want to do and follow through with that choice, they’re more likely to be successful and satisfied.A typical Asian family depends more on the collective family decision on important aspects like educationEducation has two views: sports analogy and school learningAmericans and East Asians react differently to failureAbout the Guests:Cornelius N. Grove, Ed. D., is the author of the books “The Drive to Learn” and “A Mirror for Americans.” He writes non-fiction cross-cultural books of interest to American parents and teachers as his mission is to explain the historical and cultural reasons for their children’s comparatively mediocre performance in schools.
