Jared chats with multi-hyphenate actress Scarlett Burke, who is set to launch her one of a kind scripted musical podcast Make it Up As We Go starring herself and well as Billy Bob Thornton, Dennis Quaid and Craig Robinson. The show also features music by some of the biggest stars in Country music. We hear how being left on the cutting room floor as a young actress affected Scarlett and how through years in LA she took advantages of opportunities presented to her to become not only a successful songwriter, but an award winning jingle writer, actress and podcast producer/director as well.
Jared has a discussion with Modern Family series creator Steve Levitan about what it takes to forge a meaningful career in the world of television. As a show runner and show creator, Steven is one of the most successful and respected people in the business. Jared listens intently as Steven shares his unlikely path from local news and ad man in the Midwest - to becoming the king of television in Los Angeles.
Jeff Rabhan is the Chair of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, and this past year he asked Jared to be the Chief Collaboration Artist in Residence. Jeff has an amazing story that took him from the world of music management and labels to running the most successful music program in the world. Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music is a coveted department and school that only accepts a chosen few every year, and those who are accepted have access to not only some of the best minds across all aspects of media music, but also one of the most amazing facilities Jared has ever seen, and he's been around the world and recorded in every imaginable studio. This is the kick off episode for Occupational Therapy in conjunction with NYU Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
Occupational Therapy is very much a tribute to John Singleton and Alan Thicke, both who came into my life in different ways, both who are no longer with us, both who gave me sage advice as collaborators, friends and as entrepreneurs. Telling their stories is a way for me to share the advice that masters of their fields have shared with me.
This intro podcast is an overview of Occupational Therapy and what I set out to do while outlining the curriculum for this Quarantine Masterclass. This project started as small thought -- how was I going to transition from one career to the next when I invested so much emotionally and physically into being Jingle Jared CEO and founder of Jingle Punks? I had wrapped so much of my life in the identity of being this person, over time I failed to understand that I had so much more to offer.
I decided to go back to the beginning and begin talking with people who have met who have also gone on from one successful career to the next and sometimes even more than just 2 hyphens in their careers.
My observations have been that adaptability, perseverance, creativity, and the will to change is a skill set that's gonna be even more important when we enter into this new post-pandemic economy. This season of the podcast will feature some great conversations. I hope you enjoy.
Hi, I'm Jingle Jared, I am the number one jingle writer of all time for film and TV. I sold my business and now I am in a two year period of (what they call in the startup business) a non compete. That's sad because I like to work, so I'm looking for a new job and I have 24 months to find one.
Join me as I talk to people who've "made it" in their careers, so I can figure out my next move. From TV legends, to NBA players, photographers, artists, musicians, and more, these interviews will help me understand how they've accomplished their ambitions, and will help me learn whether or not that's the move for me.
