38% of smokers attending a third level college in Sligo are smokers, according to the results of a new survey. The survey was conducted by St. Angela's College students, Sarah McGuire and Maria Gallagher, who are on work placement with Junior Minister Frank Feighan and will now present the findings to the Minister's Department

Former Sligo councillor, Brian Scanlon, has proposed the opening up of all Irish bogs and the removal of all turf-cutting restrictions to deal with the huge rise in cost of fuel. He says emergency measures are needed to deal with emergency situations
