A local man has voiced his concern over the state of public toilet facilities in Ballyshannon and the effect it might be having on the tourism industry in the area.

Ballyshannon public toilets have been closed for a number of years as they await major refurbishment, the county council have placed a portaloo behind Ballyshannon bus station but the frequency of it's cleaning has raised further concerns. 

Fine Gael Councillor Barry Sweeney has called for a position of community caretaker to be created  to upkeep the facilities and reminds people that they can use the facilities in the Ballyshannon Leisure Centre.

Donegal native Andrew McGinley lost his three children in tragic circumstances last year. 

Andrew's wife Deirdre was responsible for the children deaths but was found not guilty of the by reason of insanity. 

This morning Andrew joined North West Today to tell his story and highlight how he's keeping the memory of his children alive.

New standards for domestic solid fuels will be introduced across the State within a year, so that the most polluting solid fuels will no longer be available on the Irish market.

The regulations will be in place before September next year and from that point on, the most polluting of fuels will no longer be available on the Irish market.
