The Assistant General Secretary of the Garda Representative Association has warned that officers everywhere are now facing more dangers that ever when it comes to carrying out their duties.
Tara Mc Manus made the comment in response to Department of Justice figures that over 150 gardaí have been assaulted while on duty so far this year.
The figures are part of a growing trend with 3,440 gardaí having been assaulted while on duty in almost 12 years.
There were 156 assaults of on-duty gardaí reported as of July 23rd this year.
