Khory Hancock (aka 'The Environmental Cowboy') is a man of many talents - Environmental and Sustainability Advisor, Television Presenter, Public Speaker, and Creative Writer - and seemingly flashes his muscles almost as much as our Ocean Protect podcast co-hosts. The focus of this chat is about mitigating and possibly reversing climate change via 'drawdown' - specifically, using deep ocean seaweed farms (or 'marine permaculture arrays') to capture and sequester carbon dioxide out of our atmosphere and into seaweed. So, let's turn on, tune in, and drop out a whole lot of CO2 out of our atmosphere.

Kathy Willis is a PhD candidate at the University of Tasmania and CSIRO's Marine Debris team. Her research focuses on preventing litter from the land entering the marine system. Laura Wells is an Environmentalist, presenter and one of Australia’s top plus size models, and was on the eXXpedition when the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down. eXXpedition is an all-female sailing research expedition, investigating the causes of and solutions to ocean plastic pollution - but Laura joins us from Day 8 of hotel quarantine in Sydney. It's a fun chat about the eXXpedition research methods and findings, getting from the high seas to home in a pandemic, and much more.

Ben Pearson is the Head of Campaigns at World Animal Protection Australia, and has spent most of his life campaigning for more just and sustainable approaches to manage the planet and the animals that call it home. World Animal Protection is a global animal welfare organisation that have been campaigning for over 50 years to end the cruelty and suffering - and is a rigorously evidence-based organisation with a strong solutions focus. Their impact is massive - helping to improve the lives of some 3.6 billion animals in 2018 alone. This is a deep dive on marine plastic pollution, dolphins in captivity, and other key threats to animal welfare that World Animal Protection is actively working on solutions for.

Grahame Lloyd is the Gold Coast Marine Debris Coordinator for Sea Shepherd Australia. Every month, Grahame generously gives up his spare time to coordinate Sea Shepherd Australia beach and park clean-ups on the Gold Coast - and also helps out with clean-ups in other areas such as Moreton Island and Djulpan Beach in Arnhem Land. We recently caught up with the trailblazing organisers of the Ocean Lovers Festival - Anita Kolni and Carolyn Grant. This week, the festival was due to happen - with a jam-packed six days of all things ocean loving at Bondi Beach - with art, music, actions, and showcasing of some of the latest innovations, science, state-of-the-art technology and cool ideas for helping the oceans. Shortly after our chat, however, Anita and Carolyn made the decision to cancel all elements of the festival - due to growing concerns around caronavirus. This just means that Ocean Lovers Festival 2021 will be AMAZING. This is a great chat with two amazing people and an ocean of love #iseachange
