Ben Pearson is the Head of Campaigns at World Animal Protection Australia, and has spent most of his life campaigning for more just and sustainable approaches to manage the planet and the animals that call it home. World Animal Protection is a global animal welfare organisation that have been campaigning for over 50 years to end the cruelty and suffering - and is a rigorously evidence-based organisation with a strong solutions focus. Their impact is massive - helping to improve the lives of some 3.6 billion animals in 2018 alone. This is a deep dive on marine plastic pollution, dolphins in captivity, and other key threats to animal welfare that World Animal Protection is actively working on solutions for.

We recently caught up with the trailblazing organisers of the Ocean Lovers Festival - Anita Kolni and Carolyn Grant. This week, the festival was due to happen - with a jam-packed six days of all things ocean loving at Bondi Beach - with art, music, actions, and showcasing of some of the latest innovations, science, state-of-the-art technology and cool ideas for helping the oceans. Shortly after our chat, however, Anita and Carolyn made the decision to cancel all elements of the festival - due to growing concerns around caronavirus. Dr Adrian Gutteridge is a Fisheries Assessment Manager with the Marine Stewardship Council. With MSC's "Sustainable Seafood Week" happening in a couple weeks, we thought it'd be a super time to talk with Adrian about whether eating wild-caught fish is 'sustainable', and what MSC does to improve the sustainability of the seafood industry.
