这节课学两句非常正式的表达哀悼的句子，通常不是对很亲近的朋友，比如给有工作关系的人。

第一句是写的，文字形式的，不是说出来，比如写悼念信息，悼念卡等。

这节课开始我们一些表示同情、慰问的表达，当我们认识的人经历了疾病、家人去世、失去工作等痛苦、失落的事，我们要怎么说呢。

如果对方有亲友去世，（表示哀悼）通常会避免直接使用 death 或 die，而是用 loss 或 sad news。

loss 名词，失去；去世，死亡

sad news 不幸的消息（sad 难过的，悲伤的，不行的）

根据《纽约时报》专栏作家威廉·萨菲尔（William Safire）的说法，有人认为这个表达的来源是二战时伞兵从飞机上跳下来，降落伞一着地（落到敌区）就立即开始running，开始奔跑，开始行动，尽早抓紧机会，完成任务。也有说法是偷渡者在货运列车靠近车站时跳车以免被抓到。

做某件事从一开始就投入所有精力，非常热情、积极、高效，而且很快会成功，就可以用hit the ground running。

rise 不及物动词，不加宾语。rise to the occasion/challenge，to 是介词，不是宾语  

② game 

“比赛”除了 game，还可以说？—— match

奥运会用是 match 还是 game?

奥林匹克运动会 Olympic Games

再复习一下 match 另外的一个意思 “相配，搭配”

match 动词，和……相配（颜色，设计）

他们不搭配。They don't match. 

这个意思 match 也可以做名词“相配的人或物”

完美搭配 a perfect match 

match 还可以当“对手，敌手，旗鼓相当的人（或物）”

no match for  根本不是……的对手，根本比不上
