Are your current goals limiting you? Would you recognize the moments and opportunities that offer better options? Do you have the courage to let go of your goals?
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. Goals can motivate action and focus your energy. But they can also have downsides and sometimes need to be dropped. This week we're Off Balance On Purpose, letting go of goals. There's nothing quite like a goal, commitment and deadline to drive you. And yet this year some goals have been proven unimportant, irrelevant or unrealistic. And others have become urgent and critical to your life. How have you adapted in real time to these ever changing targets? It's not enough to aim at a target. Ask, "what's behind the target?" What are you guessing this goal delivers? What value or need will it satisfy? Answering those questions honestly reveals your goal's integrity, and helps you recognize other, better opportunities to realize your true desires. Goals are a snapshot in time. A present day projection of what you think will make you happy, fulfilled, or successful. And setting goals is important, but a goal doesn't have to be permanent. What is it about this goal – its essence – that excites and compels you? And will realizing the goal really deliver what you seek? For example, I value my health and fitness. And I truly love to help people and companies improve. So, I might decide to run a marathon next year and do 100 events, and set those as my goals. And if the impact of running proves painful, or world events shift yet again, I can find other, better ways to further my values. I might turn to cycling, or start a fitness movement. I might see other opportunities to reach millions, instead of thousands of people who need help. In my life, I've tried to live my principles and values, in the pursuit of excellence. And in doing so, I've often found that the people, experiences and opportunities that have presented themselves have been far more extraordinary than the goals I've dared to dream. Goals get you going, and can prove your capability. But don't let them limit you. Get clear on who you are, what you want, and why. Set your quest, and stay open to the other adventures that today you can't even contemplate. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO. Are your closest friends reflecting your highest qualities? This week's video will help you reshape your inner circle and expand your attainable excellence.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. If you want a measure of how you value your life, take a look at who you invite into your Inner Circle. This week we're Off Balance On Purpose, with Super Friends. Continuing the Florida trip, we're now visiting one of my closest friends. I've know him since we were practically kids, but you know him as world famous circus star, Bello Nock. And you recognize Bello and his daughter Annaliese from America's Got Talent. Along with Bello's wife, Jenny, who is the force behind their amazing success, they represent the 7th and 8th generations of the Nock family legacy. Together, they have won every award in their field, they have toured the world headlining shows in over 90 countries, and here on this amazing compound they have hosted celebrities and trained other stars, like Nik Wallenda and the Impractical Jokers. Throughout my life, I've been drawn to people who are great at what they do, yet grounded in who they are. When you find friends who push you, and reflect what you consider your most admirable aspirations, and cherished principles, draw close to them, and earn their company. So what do Bello and Jenny do during a worldwide pandemic, when venues are closed, shows stop touring and audiences are nonexistent? They execute a different dream. Bello, Jenny, and Annaliese are now inviting small, select groups behind the gates and the secrets of peak performance and enduring success. They help people push their personal limits, very safely, while experiencing skills and thrills they've only dreamed of. And through the process, learn to connect with absolute trust and accountability which, as it turns out, go hand in hand. I'm leading an experience here with my Inner Circle coaching clients in 2021, and it is going to be awesome. It's like getting a Golden Ticket inside the mind and work ethic of living legends! If you're interested in learning more about this... or how bring your own group here, let me know, and I'll connect you with Bello. Well, Jenny. In the meantime, take another look at who's in your Inner Circle. Are your closest friends reflecting your highest qualities? If not, it may be time to audition a few new ones. Getting away doesn't require an enormous investment, or a distant destination. It might not even require moving more than a few steps. What you need to "get away" depends on your own desire and a personal plan of action.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT.If your everyday reality has become an uninspiring grind, it just might be time for a getaway. This week we're Off Balance On Purpose and back on the road.
This week my son and I are on a Florida road trip, away from familiar demands and distractions. Just two days in, we've already shared deep conversations, meaningful moments, and visits with dear friends who also happen to be circus superstars. My wife joins us at the next stop, and the adventure continues.
2020 has required us all to stay put, which has been a huge adjustment. And yet the limitations have provided enormous gifts, including appreciation for what it means to get away. You only know something's true value when it is no longer an option.
Getting away doesn't require an enormous investment or a lengthy trip. But it does require that you give yourself permission to go... and let go. Let go of what is typical, familiar, and immediately pressing. Only then, can you fully embrace something new.
Very soon, depending upon your health and circumstances, please plan your intentional getaway. Even if it's for a weekend, or a day! And also, incorporate "getaway moments" into your everyday experience. You can claim many of the benefits of escape, staying right where you are, if you will release, refresh, and rename.
Release – Let go of your heaviest burdens. Control what you can. Release what you can't ... once and for all! Refresh – Deliberately seek out newness. Change your surroundings. Have different conversations. Say "yes" to new experiences and alternate options. Rename – Stop believing accepted conclusions, judgements and limitations. Start seeing unlimited roads to travel, and the futility of itemizing problems and excuses. Getaway from negativity, and relabel roadblocks as exciting detours.
Everyday has come to mean "ordinary." And yet every day is original, fleeting, and rich with opportunity! Explore, experiment, and experience this day and the unlimited options that it offers right now. Until next week , stay Off Balance On Purpose.

Do you struggle getting up from low moments, or bouncing back from set backs? This week's video will help you take charge and activate the resilience that is within you!
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT.We all have down days, low moments, and even losing streaks in life. So how can you create an upturn and propel yourself to better circumstances? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose, activating resilience.
Do you remember a time when you were confident, in control, and felt unstoppable? At those moments, it feels like you're on a roll that simply won't end... until it does. Human beings have high moments and lows – weaknesses, distractions, mistakes, and challenges that rock our worlds.
The goal isn't to eliminate downturns, but to make them as short as possible. That's called resilience. And it means recovering quickly, or "springing back," as in elasticity.
Resilience comes from the Latin word, "resilire," meaning "to leap back." A leap. An action. A burst of energy. Leaping requires great effort, a full, coordinated commitment, and a desired landing spot.
First you need to decide. Is your life going to be mostly lows with occasional highs, or would you rather it be the other way around? I believe that your natural, normal state is one of health, peace, productivity and joy. Happiness shouldn't be a distant concept but a daily reality. You've been there before, and you can get back there again!
It's not about surviving the slog and hoping that it ends soon. Resilience is deciding that your current state is intolerable and acting, now, to change it. Leaping requires a sense of urgency, and and a full coordinated powerful effort. As if you're standing on a crumbling platform, and you must act immediately to survive and inspire others.
Observe your circumstances, objectively. Is this what you want? Is this who you are and how you want to spend the majority of your moments? If not, know that resilience is within you, right now, but you must activate it. Leap upward, toward inspiring ideas, better outcomes, and a plan of action that you will envision and commit to. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.

Are you using your power to choose your life's adventure? This week's video provides two ways to take ownership of your story and live a more fulfilling life!
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. The best part about starring in your own life adventure is you always get to choose, in two very important ways. This week we're Off Balance On Purpose, making choices. When I was a kid, I used to love to read "Choose your own adventure" books. So did my son, Eddie. This is one of his old ones right here. At the end of every chapter is a question, and you, the reader, gets to select from two or more options about where the the story goes. Depending on what you choose, you turn to a specific page and resume the story, until another question is presented. The power of choosing is the power of truly living life, and yet so many people deny or give up this power, focusing instead on what is out of their control, what others are doing, or events and circumstances that they may observe, but do not directly influence. No matter what happens to, or around you, you always, always choose in two critical aspects. First, you choose the story. We tell ourselves stories, filling in the blanks of what we can't really know. You may prescribe others' motives, name blameworthy actions and intentional wrongs that cause you pain and resentment. Or, you can choose a story that serves you better, such as: others' actions aren't about you. They are about that person's fear, pain, and inability to move past the confines of their small, small world. Those people aren't to be resented, but rather pitied for their misery. And you don't have to make their pain your pain. Secondly, you get to choose your actions. What you say and what you do is always up to you. And if you think differently, you are deceiving yourself and shunning your responsibility to live your life. You don't have to speak with anger, even when you're angry. Aim higher. Choose love. Act with purpose, starting with small, intentional, consciously better choices. You can't go wrong doing what is right, true, and beneficial. Choose your own adventure. Every word in that sentence is rich with meaning. Your choice. Your life. Not someone else's. And life is and should be an adventure. This is it, my friend, so why would you play it safe or be less than you can be? Choose MORE. Why would you choose misery, when an exciting and joyful path is just a few turns away? This week, take ownership of your story, begin a new chapter, and immerse yourself in the thrilling adventure of your life. Until next time, stay Off Balance On Purpose. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO. It contains insights to the nature of confidence, as well as, five sure-fire ways to boost yours!
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. How strongly do you believe in your ability? And are you convinced of your value? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose, boosting confidence. Self confidence is in many ways, the key to success. Believing in your abilities, ideas and vision is both empowering and persuasive. Confidence connects, uplifts, and enlists the support of others. Which is great... unless you're not feeling all that confident. The truth is we all operate from this place of precarious confidence. We may know our strengths, and also our weaknesses, fears and secrets. And it's easy to think others don't carry this burden. But they do. It's just their stuff, not your stuff. Authentic confidence is not arrogance, but assurance that you have value – nothing to prove, and yet so much to share! So here are a few ways to boost your confidence when you're not quite feeling it. 1. Own your history. Your past matters and serves you. Because you're the only one who has your unique experiences and lessons learned. 2. Demonstrate you can. You build confidence by doing things you're not quite sure you can do. So test yourself and reveal more of your potential! 3. Close the gaps. Go to work learning, practicing, and falling short now in order to get better and stronger very soon. 4. Get curious. When you ask questions and truly seek to understand, you're focusing out and up, rather than inward. 5. Don't strut. Serve. Don't cover up your lack of confidence. Seek a purpose bigger than your ego, and then stretch to become what's required. Nobody ever got more confident sitting alone, hoping, or trying to convince somebody else. Confidence comes when you own your vulnerabilities, act anyway, and discover how great you already are. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO. right on time
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. Are you always feeling like you're running behind? If so, this week's video might be right on time. People trust and want to work with those they can depend on. And one of the simplest and most powerful ways you can demonstrate your trustworthiness is by being on time. Regardless of your profession or personal commitments, if you are consistently, dependably on time, you are elevated to a different category of trust. And, if others are waiting for you, regularly, you erode even some of your most positive qualities. Plus it's super stressful. I love getting up early. But it's not about the hour, so much as allowing sufficient time before your first commitment. And that's because managing time is like surfing a wave. If you stay ahead of the wave – your schedule and commitments – then you can ride the power and momentum. But if you're just getting up as the wave is cresting, you are in for an anxious and rough ride. Here are specific steps to ensure you become known as a person who is right on time. 1. Make it important. Resolve to be punctual, even if others aren't. 2. Work backwards. Subtract your travel time from your desired arrival time. 3. Back it up. Subtract a bit more time, allowing room for error – traffic, wrong turns, and even the totally unexpected. 4. Hard departure. If you leave later, knowing that you have room for error, that's more like a snooze button, because technically... you're the error. 5. Celebrate "early." Being early is a great bonus because you can engage what's next on your terms. This week, resolve to better surf the wave called time, and watch how it increases your value and decreases your stress. Your influence is far greater than you probably realize. This week's video delivers an action plan to help you own and multiply your positive impact. Dan also offers free personal coaching to three people.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. It's one thing to talk about the the power of your influence. But what if we could multiply it? This week, we're Off Balance On Purpose, times three. Today I'm going to give you a simple assignment which, I promise, will multiply the positive impact you make upon others. And also, in about a minute, I'll share an opportunity to receive complementary personal coaching sessions with me. But first, let's make it clear. Your influence is far greater than you know. And necessary, because everyone benefits from validation. Your words, expectations, questions, attention, and very presence have the power to alter the course of someone's life. You can increase self esteem and determination, spark insights, and lessen the pain of low moments. Or not. Careless use of your influence, or denial of its existence, can cause discouragement, self doubt, and the abandonment of someone's dreams. Here's the assignment. Reach out to three people you don't normally talk to, strictly for the secret purpose of providing positive influence. These could be old friends, family members, or even people you barely know. Bring genuine interest, ask thoughtful questions, be encouraging, and trust your intuition to say something helpful, asking nothing in return. And then, here's where it gets interesting. When talking with each person, find a reason to speak again. And then again, for a total of three intentional conversations. Each time, bring your presence, positivity and desire to uplift. And these visits can be any form or duration that fits your schedule and feels right to you. To walk my talk, I am giving away three personal coaching sessions to three people. And if you're interested, just go out to the coaching page on my website, fill out the short questionnaire, I'll select three people, and we'll get started right away. But like anything in life, you need to take action to make it happen. https://danthurmon.com/executive-coaching/ Encouraging one person even once feels fantastic. But follow through with three people times three conversations, for a total of nine intentional interactions, and you'll begin to see how quickly your influence multiplies with repetition. And you might begin to wonder what would happen times five, times ten, or times every encounter in the course of your life. It doesn't take a lot to give a lot. And you always get more in return.
