Are you currently focused on flaws and faults? Even during times of lack, there is a great deal that is improving. This week's video will help you access improvement and affect positive change.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. In what ways are you definitely getting better? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose and improving. When some aspects of your business or life are declining or flat, it is essential that you identify others that are improving. This is not to diminish the significance of your reality, but to establish the fact that you are a person who can make things better. I think that life is less about big wins or specific goals and more about long-term trajectory. We want to look back from our future with satisfaction and pride at our progress and accomplishments. And this means we need to establish an upward trajectory of improvement – not in one meaningful aspect, but in many. And make no mistake, there are many significant improvements that you can make – or are already making – which you can leverage to increase your confidence, self-worth, and enjoyment of life. Turns out that 2020 is the year I'm improving my fitness, becoming a better husband, and thanks to my daughter and TikTok, a better dancer. Who saw that coming? This year, I'm improving my understanding and empathy for others. And I'm getting great at delivering virtual presentations in an amazing studio that we envisioned, and created. And because of that, we're helping people and teams improve, all over the world! Is everything getting better? Of course not. But by claiming what is, you establish your ability to affect positive change that matters. And this means you can apply those same principles – focus, discipline, creativity, joy, and effort – to make other meaningful and necessary improvements.Don't wait another minute. Improve something. Own your reality and results. And rather than fixating on what is less than ideal, create an upward trajectory that is positive, personal, and of your design. Until next week, keep improving, and stay Off Balance On Purpose.

READ THE TRANSCRIPT. In what ways can you become more resistant to the very real risks of our world, and your psyche? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose, boosting immunity. I'm not a doctor. But it seems to me that living in this world of uncertainty and threat, when information changes often, and perspectives are regularly skewed and amplified. The one thing that ALL concerned and discerning people should agree on: is that it's probably a good idea to boost your immune system. To be immune is to be resistant to infection or toxin. When it comes to disease, Harvard Health suggests that immune boosters, include fitness, stopping smoking, reducing or eliminating excess weight and excess alcohol. We need to decrease stress. And increase activity, fruits and vegetables, sleep, and fresh air. You probably already knew that, even without Harvard Health. But have you considered that thoughts can be equally infectious and toxic ? Are you immune from negative ideas and destructive self-talk? Have you built up a resistance to the naysayers and pessimists who take pleasure and accomplishment, literally feeling better when they can make you feel just a little bit worse! We need to guard against the toxins of presumption, limiting belief, and defeatist attitudes. And boost our positive beliefs, spiritual journey, and appreciation of joy and beauty. When you're not sure exactly what to do, do something that will benefit you in the long run. Get curious, creative, and committed to what helps you. Boost your immunity, physical and mental, and become more aligned and invested in being the example of responsibility. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO. Are you a person of principle? Watch this two minute video to find out.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT.How do you live your values when times are really challenging? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose, and on principle.
What really matters to you? Your "rules for life?" Do you know? And if so, will you apply them in the future, or use them now, even though these days are different, and especially difficult? Here's the thing. If you aren't living your values during hard times... then they aren't really your values. Proud people proclaim what is right, just, and important. Principled people prove it, not to others, but to themselves, through thousands of choices and actions, small and large, that eventually become the fabric of self. Are you a person of principle? Or, are your rules "situational," granting yourself permission to suspend, or slacken, until the ideal circumstances arrive? And if they never do, then who will you have been? In the end, all we have is the life we live and the principles that we lived by. When it's hard, it's time to double down on what you believe. So here are a few of my principles for inspiration, and for my accountability. Honor God. Love all. Emulate few. Do what's hard. Do what's right. Failing = learning. Be honest. Be loyal. Be excellent. Family first. Support my country. Do the work. Have fun. Help people. Presume positive. Forgive fast. Embody health. Exude love. Be present. Be yourself. It's always about now. This is the moment that you get to decide or discover who you really are. When nobody's watching. And the "easy way" is totally understandable. When less is justified. And even though we are imperfect and will fall short at times. We recommit ... because it's tough and it matters. Don't make exceptions. Be exceptional. You are a person of principle, and every day you can choose to feel the joy and power of proving it, to you. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO. "Achieving balance" sounds like a worthwhile ambition. And yet, that goal may be setting you up for disappointment and missed opportunities. Balance isn't what you get, it's what you do, and this week's video provides keys to help you balance better.
WATCH THE VIDEO.READ THE TRANSCRIPT. Achieving "life balance" is totally the wrong goal. This week let's commit to becoming a better balancer. Balance is not what you get, it's what you do. In fact, the quest for "achieving balance" is counterproductive to your happiness, as it discounts the present moment for the promise of future bliss. All you ever get is now, and you will never achieve indefinite balance. But you can, and should, become a better balancer. All my life, I have studied dynamic balance, both in the physical sense, and in life. And in both respects, balancing is about making informed, real-time adjustments, to either manage, or move toward, what is desired. Mastering this skill enables greater comfort in the midst of change and consistent, steady progress. How well are you balancing life right now? Are you leading change or struggling to keep up with it? Are you anticipating what's needed, or generally a step or two behind? How comfort are you making adjustments or stepping into new situations? These 5 physical principles are essential for real-life applications. 1. Look up. Connect to purpose, and to possibility. You can not effectively balance if you're looking down. 2. Keep your cool. Expert balancers breathe, expelling anxiety and choosing presence over panic. 3. Make small adjustments. Acting out of urgency or anxiousness often leads to over-correcting and causes even bigger problems. Sometimes a subtle shift is all it takes. 4. Act with agility. If you're thinking bigger picture and longer term, you can anticipate and act with both quickness and confidence. 5. Own your improvement. As you progress in both ability and mindset, be assured that you can handle what's coming next. Balance isn't about accomplishment, but connectedness. When you are alive in the moment and capable of making adjustments, your footing can be sure, even when the path forward isn't. So this week, practice dynamic balancing in the present, as you actively shape the future, going Off Balance On Purpose. LISTEN TO THE AUDIO. When navigating uncertainty, it's easy to feel unequipped or that you are "less than" what is needed. This week's video will reveal how your uniqueness can provide more confidence, joy, and direction. Come along for the ride, and rediscover the essence of "YOU."
Watch the Video. Read the Transcript. Are you enjoying and using the greatest gift you possess? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose on a unique path. You are one of a kind. An absolute original. While there are many who share some of your qualities, and some who share many of them, there is no one who is exactly you.Do you know and value your uniqueness, your passions, your quirks and contradictions? When do you feel most alive, expressing the essence of who you are – fullness of mind, body, and spirit?
I love fitness, solitude and inspiration. And I love to uplift and encourage others. So here I am, at daybreak, about to head into the woods – not on a bike, but on a mountain unicycle.
This physical challenge connects me to my past, yet keeps me in the moment. The woods fill my spirit. I ride while meditating on ideas, listening to the sounds of nature, or to my favorite music or authors. And this combination of choices gives me great joy knowing at this moment, I am uniquely me.
When do you feel your most true and inspired self? When are you certain that you are on your personal path, expressing your truth, or contributing to the world what only YOU can give?
If you don't have those answers, then sit with these questions. When are your mind, body, and spirit in alignment? When do you know that you're doing what you love and are meant to do? Lean into those moments, and seek to create more of them.
It's wonderful to experience individuality when alone, but the real goal is to share it! Strive to bring ALL of you to all you do, and know that you're extraordinary. You may think you know someone's view, or perspective... but do you really? This week's video will help you connect with those who see things differently, and make real breakthroughs of understanding.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT.In order to truly understand a person, capture an idea, or gain a helpful perspective, you may need to try on a different lens. This week we're Off Balance On Purpose and refocusing.
If we were both photographers, capturing the same subject from different angles, with different cameras, we would naturally take very different pictures. If I wanted to understand what you see, I might ask you, or even better, look at your pictures. But even then, what I would get is your personal, artistic interpretation and the exact moment you chose to snap.
To really comprehend, I must look through your lens. And even then, I'd see something different, my own eye capturing your view in a deeply personal way. Perspective is subjective by its very nature. We all have our lenses, formed by many factors: Life experience. Parents. Mentors. Teachers. Trials. Triumphs. Loves and losses. Your lens is unique. Just as no one else can think your thoughts, no one else can see exactly what you do.
Take the color green for example. Color is light frequency, a reflection of the visible spectrum. We can both agree it's green, and share in its enjoyment, but there is no way I can know that my version of green is the same as yours.
It seems to me that our desire to safeguard our lenses, our pictures, and our realities, as the only valid versions perpetuates division and judgement. This only increases confusion, intolerance, and ignorance, and inhibits real growth.
All I have for you is love, and a desire for your joy and greatness – which I will celebrate, because you are uniquely YOU, and also a part of me. I may see it differently. Cool! In order to truly understand you, I need to know more about you. Can I borrow your lens? Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.

Maggie turned 18 this week, and we're celebrating with a skydive. Considering all that we've been through in 2020, jumping out of a plane seemed like a really good idea.
This is Maggie's first jump ... but I took mine in my early 20s, and this is number 8 for me. And every time, it resets my perspective and makes me truly grateful to be alive! I personally believe that every person should take at least one skydive in their life. And that means you, and especially if you're afraid of heights.
The tandem jump is the way to go. Certified instructor, highly rated facility, and pick a day with great weather.
Tandem skydiving is a beautiful metaphor for letting go of control, gaining some distance from your problems, and launching into the unknown. Nothing changes attitude quite like altitude. And today that's 14,500 feet.
So, if you've been waiting for this bucket list opportunity, or even if it has never crossed your mind, find a drop zone; near you, and book a reservation today. I promise you'll get a fresh perspective on life, and new inspiration you can put into action. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose!

When one of us inflicts pain, or suffers, it hurts us all, and requires that you and I bring more of what helps. This week's video will help you access peace right now, in order to change hearts and improve what matters.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. If you could have anything you want in this world, what would it be? This week were Off Balance On Purpose, seeking peace. Last week, we started a conversation about looking within and tapping into your higher self. And as just that message was cued for release, humanity was dealt a devastating, emotional blow. And it hurts all of us, because, in truth, we are not separate. We are one. When one person suffers pain, injustice, or loss, it affects the body of humankind. I started by asking what you really, truly want. What came to mind for you? Possessions? Circumstances? Outcomes? And why? To what end? Happiness? You can't have happiness unless you have peace. And we may believe that peace resides outside us – accessible when we get our want, or our wish. But peace is the way, and it's only available in the present. Peace in your heart. Alone, apart, and together. The same, and yet beautifully different. Peace when it's quiet – and when the emotion and noise are deafening. Determined to rise above hate – and bring a higher frequency of thought, empathy and love. Today, I am listening louder than I have been. Instead of my thinking mind ... analysis, categorizing, debating, I've tried to move to my higher self – synthesizing, feeling, and transcending my perspective to incorporate others. I don't have to be right, or have the answers, but I'm expanding my understanding. And that helps. The key to higher awareness is absolute presence. Own the lessons of the past. Envision a better future. But live and act in the present. Be here, now, and know that peace is yours to access and use at this moment. Its power, has changed hearts and history. It's our turn. If you feel empty, lacking or without great options, which way do you turn for help? It could be you are looking in the wrong direction. This week, we begin a journey toward a truth you already possess.
WATCH THE VIDEO READ THE TRANSCRIPT.If you feel empty, lacking or without great options, which way do you turn for help? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose and looking within.
Maybe lately you felt without in some respect: Without answers, energy, direction, or hope. The void of what you want but don't currently have instigates a desire and quest for replenishment. And there are two ways you can look. Externally or internally.
Looking outside ourselves is natural and useful, especially when we're feeling without. We look to others for examples, opinions, validation, or even just a welcome distraction from our struggles. Which may be, in part, why you're watching me. But don't underestimate the incredible resources that already exist within you, even during times of lack.
Looking within, you can tap into your cognitive self – analyzing, categorizing, problem solving. In many respects, your thinking defines you – as Rene Descartes famously said, "Congnito, ergo sum," translated, "I think, therefore I am."
But if that's true then who are you when you're not thinking? Or when you're sleeping? Do you cease to be? Of course not. In truth, there is a "cognitive you" but also a "higher self," the real you who observes the thinker. And you are powerful. Personally, I would rewrite Descartes to say – "You are, therefore you matter ... and you know."
You are so much more than your thoughts! Because you exist, you're an amazing miracle. You are valued. You are worthy. You are enough, and yet ever expanding. And you are connected to powerful information that transcends cognitive thought. From thinking to knowing. The journey of life is learning to recognize, access, and use more of your higher capabilities.
In the next couple weeks, I will delve into this topic and teach you how to access more of the higher, wiser YOU. Begin by considering the two aspects of you – thinker and observer. And rather than identifying with your challenges or thoughts, observe yourself as you think and navigate life. And ask, looking within, who are you, really? Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.

How do you know when you've done enough work to warrant free time? This week's video offers a reminder of our recent past and useful advice for right NOW.
WATCH THE VIDEO. READ THE TRANSCRIPT. Today I want to share a video we've been waiting two months to show you. I had just landed in Nashville from Jerusalem on March 6th and shot this video. And then world events shifted so abruptly that a new message was required. But I think that this timing is just right and this message takes on a new meaning right now. I hope you enjoy it. How do you know if you're doing enough? This week we're Off Balance On Purpose in Nashville. This week's topic came from our son, Eddie, who edits these videos, attends Berklee College of Music, practices constantly, and plays in an up and coming Boston band. And he asked me dad, "How do I know if I've earned my free time? Because there's always more to do." Great question, for all of us. And it is awesome to have drive and ambition. As a dad, I'm so proud. And there comes a point where you can go too far. Overwork brings stress and diminishing returns. Fatigue reduces quality and health. High performance and growth require time for renewal and even escape. Take spontaneous and planned departures from the grind, and give yourself permission to enjoy it. Be with your friends and have fun! But here's the thing. You can also create stress by NOT doing what's necessary, or falling behind on your commitments. You can wear yourself out avoiding obligations or productivity. The key, I think is intention. Check in with awareness and self-honesty. If if the intention of downtime is renewal, reward, or savoring life, then go for it. If the intention is avoidance, or self-sabotage, than it's probably not serving your cause. It's not just about what you want or need to do. It's also about who you want to become. Think of simultaneously striving for accomplishment and appreciation. Get it done, and be known as a person who keeps their commitments. But don't race by the moments, the people, and the laughs that enrich your life. Because when it comes to being you, everything counts. Don't be surprised to discover the play and downtime deliver the insights and inspiration to further your work. The two really do, go hand in hand. So work with purpose and personal satisfaction, and play with freedom and renewal. I love you, son. Until next week, stay Off Balance On Purpose.
